Here is a quote from Dooley concerning negative recruiting

"I think what has happened now is the social media has allowed more fodder for negativity if you will. It's giving people more ammunition. When people get on (Tennessee) websites and they type stuff all you are doing is giving the other schools information to go attack our players. I have made the comment before. If you truly love Tennessee like most people say, you would not be negative publicly. Everyone is going to have concerns with the program. Those concerns should be addressed with the coaches, the AD, or amongst your friends. But the more public you get about Tennessee, the more it hurts the program. But it's not just Tennessee, it's going on at every program. It goes on at Georgia. It goes at Auburn. Its every program. Its just the world we live in right now and its just a challenge
sometimes."

Doesn't CDD know nobody pays attention to or is influenced by message boards?

Rhetorical, of course. I think the negavols are idiots.

My favorite was when the negavols talked the team into losing to UK and then got over half the staff to abandon ship. Damn negavols can do some writin!

You can't just call negavols out. Find some bad news. That's how you attract them.

It's not just UT. But, I think some UT fans take it too far. I understand we've been down for several years now, but being negative about it will not help. Our fanbase is bipolar in general.

He undermined the whole silly excuse when he said all fanbases are doing it and every school has the same problem.

Nobody is defending the loss to KY.

Negavols refuse to take into account the situation. 5 games into his first year with predominantly freshmen and sophomores starting, way down on the roster, no reasonable expectation of a good season, you guys were already on his butt saying that by that point he should have coached them up. By God, you'd had enough of this losing crap. As I've posted before, if he'd have been coaching junior high kids against Alabama, you'd still be saying "enough - he should coach 'em up!" Couldn't be more idiotic.

I agree he has to start winning this year, and if he can't pull it together this year, it really is at his feet. But you supposed fans who have been calling for his head for a year and half now are just pathetic.

Hmmm ... I guess all fan bases do it ... who woulda thought. Maybe our staff needs to start gathering "ammunition" of their own by reading other team's boards. Afterall, "when in Rome ...".

I've said it before and I'll say it again, thousands upon thousands of posts that you've managed to put on here and not a single one is worth a damn.Dooley didn't say anything about any games he's talking about the negative **** from people like you.It wouldn't matter if UT had just won the NC you would find something to ***** about because that's the type of person you are.

I didn't see him really concerned about people like me. It is basically delusional people like you that think some post on a message board can undo the great regime of Derek Dooley that seems so concerned with my posts.

I'm neither agreeing nor disagreeing with what DD said but how is does it undermine the point by stating everyone has to deal with it?

OP sounds made up. I googled it and couldn't find it anywhere. If true, add pathetic whiner to Derek Dooley's numerous faults.

The perception created by fans makes an impression on recruits and others. The statements and over the top criticisms of people like you are used against UT football. If this weren't obvious by any use of common sense... we have had recruits, insiders, and coaches (not just Dooley) saying it.

It's come all the way to blaming the fans for sucking. It's gotten to a new found low. Do any of you realize they had to take Vandy into overtime to not go winless in the SEC? Yeah that really did happen. How about winning some damn ball games and stop worrying about what is said on a message board. Might help them beat someone better than Cincinnati. Just a thought.

We wouldn't even be discussing this if you had turned in your resume for the coaching job when Kiffin left.Obviously your supreme coaching talents would have gotten you hired and you would already have this thing turned around.

And the man said in his press conference he doesn't want any kid that can be swayed that easily. So it isn't hurting anything.

Dooley quote from same article

"I have been dealing with it my whole career. I don't negative recruit. Our coaches don't negative recruit. When we talk about another school it's only factual. It's not opinion. I can't control what others do. I think the most important thing is anticipating what other schools might say. And what I have found is that the players who are diligent on their process. They have good family support and the right kind of character they don't get swayed by negative stuff. And the one's that don't (have that) do (get swayed). If you lose one or two because of some negative recruiting, chances are they are not going to fit in our program anyway."

That sounds an awful lot like Otha Peters.
