While this strategy is obviously high risk high reward, I really think that we should come out and go after him.

My thinking is this: Burning their best player early in the game will demoralize them. It will also send a signal that we are going to come at them head on. They may also be forced to alter their defensive gameplan by sending a safety over to help (which they may not plan on doing).

When I say attack, I don't just mean passing, but rushing also. Run some plays his way and rough him up a bit straight away. Let him watch Young sprint by him while CP is laying him out. Have Neal truck him on purpose.

I know that it may sound crazy, but when a team has a singular strength, and we match up well to that strength, then we should attack it with everything we have.

Thoughts?

I think we will run the ball a lot more than people are expecting in this game. Their D-Line and LBs are the weakest point of their defense and that is what we should attack.

Or you throw deep to Hunter on play one and it's picked off by Amerson.... What do you do then, when your team is demoralized? The better team shouldn't have to rely on emotion.

I don't disagree, I do think that we will win this game running the ball, but clearly our passing game is our strength on offense and the earlier we let them know that the better our rushing attack will be.

I do think that the first series will be run, run, run. It wouldn't surprise me to see us start out with 6 run plays all the way to the endzone.

Give me a break. The whole point is that our strength is passing the ball. Where is the emotion in that? And you really think that Hunter won't make Amerson his girlfriend for the night? If he is as good as they say he is, let's see it, but I just don't think he matches up well with Hunter.

Run the ball and make Rivera our workhorse

Yes-run the freaking ball. The O-line is all over 300, with a mammoth left tacke with a mean streak. They have an average to below average front seven. Just pound them, and take a shot on a 2nd and short. Throw some screens to Devrin, and open up the passing game. Oh, and sweep the leg. Get pissed for once in the past 3 years and take it out on the other team until 00:00.

I disagree. Run the ball. If they run zone defense against like they normally do with the linebacker issues they seem to have then cram the ball down their throat.
The last thing I would do would be to try and test the strength they have in the secondary. Expose their weakness and when they try to play off that then you hit them with the Boom.
If we can pick up 3 or 4 first downs on the opening driving just running the ball then attack through the air, I believe that they will play on their heels. Rattle their defensive confidence and the chatter about their defense not being able to play with the big boys will creep up in thier minds. We can win physically but it will be a lot easier if we can destroy them mentally.

Take what they give you. Forcing stuff usually doesn't work out well. If they double Hunter there should be plenty of options for Bray. He just has to be patient and take care of the ball.

shove it down their throat until those safeties come up to help then throw to JH or CP in a one on one situation down the field and let them go get the ball. Then when they give safety help on one side, hit Rivera or Blanc over or under the lb.

And repeat

If we can run on NC State, with new LBs and D-Lineman no less, that will mean we have made zero progress this off-season. That would just be... depressing.

I didn't say we wouldn't be able to run on them. But a 6 run TD drive would assume about 13 ypc. We're not going to get that kind of results against anybody but Akron and Georgia State.

Attack them like you do any other zone D. Stretch the field vertically and laterally to create throwing lanes then run at the guys you expect to blitz. Once they have to play the deep sideline 1/3's, the middle opens up.

I would probably go play action with seam routes on the very first play. If nothing else, throw it over the coverage in the direction of CP or JH.

In this case that works since the weakenss of their D seems to be at DT and LB.

Playing with fire. Dude is legit and in a game like this, one turnover could be the dagger that kills us.

Nah, Young is taking the opening kick to their 40. Neil is going to break a 20 yarder on the first run, then we will have 5 runs to make the other 20.

Also, I should rephrase: We won't get those results against anybody, including Akron and Georgia State.

It was just based on assumptions. I think our run game will be improved, but it's not going to be great.
