I have been lurking on this site for over a year and this is my first post. I enjoy reading all the opinions here but I have finally decided to jump in with my own.

I have always been a CPF fan, his character and loyalty have never been in question but it was time for him to go a few years ago IMO. I believe he had grown complacent and the team as an extention of the coach's personality reflected it. For the record, I see the same cycle starting to show itself in the UGA program.

The local sports talk radio here in Atlanta can only talk about how great UF and Bama are and will continue to be for the next decade. They say the rest of the conference has no chance against them, especially UT with a "green" coach. One thing I have learned as a college FB fan - no one team dominates consistently or for more than a few years. Every team has down years and UF and Bama are no exceptions.

I believe we will see a huge difference in attitude next year out of this UT team as a direct result of the CLK hire. I agree that he does not appear polished in front of the media but he was hired to coach football not as a PR man. None of us will know for sure how good he is for a few years to come. I will make this prediction for next season though - UT is going to be fun to watch. We will have some big wins and we will win more conference championships and NC's down the road.

I bet the Atlanta media wasn't real high on CUM and his new fangled spread option either.

When I moved to Atlanta in 2000 I listened to sports talk radio for about a month. That's all the time I needed to realize that, like most sports talk radio, they don't have an interest in facts. Save yourself the heartburn.

Welcome to the board!

Spot on. The run at UF and Bama will come to an end as all winning cycles do.

Welcome! :hi:

Although you can never underestimate great coaching, great players are also necessary to the formula..... Kif may be a "green" coach but his staff won't be! Plus, who would you rather have on the recruiting trail..... A young, hungry, motivated HC with a tremendous desire to succeed (ala Kiffin) OR an old lazy fart relying on past accomplishments who is more interested in the next golf round (ala SOS)?

On a side note, when the rumor hit that Kiffin had been made an offer I contacted Kincade figuring he works for ESPN and could tell me if it was true or not. He started the show by laughing at me. He told me that he had contacted his SEC resources and there was ZERO truth to the rumor; however UT officials might meet with Kiffin this weekend in Atlanta.

I think he is still bitter about being wrong.

Living in N Metro ATL I don't get to hear the guys often mentioned on this board.... Hyams, etc. However, I would be willing to wager anyone that there is not a bigger azz in sports radio than John Kincade! Everybody and everything sucks excepts the Phillies and Eagles!

He did like our hire over Clemson on Monday.... but I am not surprised that he would change his mind in a couple of days!! He kept imitating Lane trying to comfort Layla about Knoxville..... "Come on baby, it's exactly like Disneyland, they just call it Dollywood"!

You actually made it a whole month? Sirius used to carry AM790 out of Atlanta and whenever I tuned in, they rarely talked about sports and when they did it was always about some off field drama or controversy. I'm not sure what audience they were going after, but it wasn't sports fans

Atlanta sports radio is minor league--most are uga suckups and they criticize everybody else in the SEC.

I think Atlanta should revert back to its original name. Not my favorite city, especially when I have to drive through it.
