Athlon Schedule Predictions

No one will pick Tennessee consistently vs. Florida until we beat their ass consistently. We should have beaten their ass three to four more times during the botch era. Just coaching stupidity from our standpoint. I believe Tennessee can beat Florida this year but we have to go out there and do it. Can be the difference between 6-6 and 7-5.

Tennessee Football: Game-by-Game Predictions for 2018
I sware I don’t understand the love affair with FL

It’s pretty simple really, FL returns a lot of
Starters from last years team. Yes that team
Was not the best overall but they have experience coming back this year and that is the main thing these preseason hype trains take into account. That is why FL is getting so much hype.

Joke...safe stupid picks across the board with one having us lose to Vandy...can’t wait to look back at all the predictions after this season. Maybe I’m wrong, and I certainly am biased, but with the talent on this team and the tenacity and dedication to a style of football that is a proven winner at the highest level in the SEC, I can’t see how we are less than 7 wins this year. I’m so excited to see what Pruitt puts on the field in 6 days!!!! Hope the media changes their tune this time next week.

I think most people are giving weight to the fact that Mullen brought most of his staff with him, so those coaches have a lot of experience working together at those positions in the SEC. Take that together with the fact that Florida returns a fairly experienced team and some people are expecting a quick rebound from their implosion last season. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

Based on these predictions, we will beat Missouri and earn a trip to a bowl game
Last year, Missouri physically dominated us as much if not more than any other team, including Georgia and Alabama. I’ll believe we beat Missouri when I see it.

At the very least we should be a toss up for the WV, FL, and USC games.

I thought we would be a toss up for the Mizzou game too but they all have us favored...I guess the Dooley Force is strong there already!

Schedule, Schedule, Schedule.

They don’t play Alabama or Auburn.

They get SC and LSU at home.

Georgia at neutral site.

Their toughest conference road game is at Mississippi State or Tennessee.

They will probably lose to Georgia and at FSU, but other than that I can’t see any other certain losses.

They have a coach that has won with one of the least talented teams in the SEC.

Arguably, they have as much talent as anyone in the SEC outside of Alabama and Georgia.

They have an experienced roster on both sides of the ball.

Their biggest concern is the QB, as he often struggles with accuracy but if used properly he can also be their biggest asset in that he’s big, physical, and has a big arm. He fits this coach’s philosophy as he wants a QB that is physical and can run first and pass second which Franks can certainly do.

If they can defend their home turf which they usually do, they could easily win 9 or 10 games with six SEC wins.

Here's my two cents, which is not even worth that. But as I see it, we've got two problems with any preseason predictions. The first is that we simply don't know what we have. On paper, we should be talented enough to win a lot of games. But we don't know how badly that ***** Butch has destroyed any talent that was there. And we don't have any idea what we have in Pruitt. he may be great, and he may be a complete bust. Being the top man is so different, you don't know until you've seen them do it. SECOND, I honestly (regretfully) believe that UGA, FL, and SCAR, have all finally gotten their programs on track. It just seems like they have turned the corner. I hope we have.

Agreed. If they beat UT which they are favored to do and lose on the road at MSU, they are still looking at 9-3 if they beat SC and LSU at home. But, I’m not sold on the MSU program without Mullen running the show.

Florida has an even tougher schedule in 2019 when they play Miami as well as FSU.

I agree. Florida and West Virginia strike me as the two most overrated teams this preseason. Florida had as bad of a season as us last year, but for some reason, all the analysts now think they are a top 25 team. CBS Sports even had them as one of the most "underrated".

It's not that I'm surprised that the sportswriters think we'll suck. But a Florida team in a very similar situation, which probably has less talent than us, and they think they are going to be competing for the SEC East?

I think Mizzou will be a tougher game than Florida. Not saying we'll beat Florida, but this year is one of the best opportunities we'll ever have. We have a more talented team, it's in Knoxville, and we're both in "rebuilding" situations. We should've beaten them last year, but Butch found a way to squander a game that we dominated on many facets.

I don’t think so, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M and Florida better classes (when averaged together) than UT.

This is from 2017, I haven’t seen one yet for 2018, but Florida had a higher rated class than UT last season.

Five-year college football recruiting averages should forecast next season
