does TN stop being the "benchmark" game for our opponents?
Cal--judged by whether or not they can beat TN
FL--judged by whether or not they can beat an SEC team
and the list goes on...i'm sure the week before the GA game, there will be someone out there saying "this is GA's first real test, and we'll see if Matt Stafford can get it done against a team LIKE Tennessee"
Same for Bama, SC and KY i'm sure.
but i submit to you, if all of those teams are validated by beating TN, at what pont does anyone come back and say....wait a minute, all these teams did was beat a 6,7 or 8 win team with no defense?
anyway, we've lived long enough on repuatation, and at some point, everyone is going to have to realize that beating TN just isn't that big of a deal anymore.
and what's worse, is that for the rest of the season, each game will be met with much anxiety and trepidation as to the outcome.
can we still finish 10-2? yes, until we lose the 3rd game, it will be a possibility.
Will 10-2 be a good season given how the first three weeks have gone? i'd have to say it'd be a huge victory if that were to happen.
what's more likely....who knows, but the trip to Tuscaloosa and Lexington both loom much larger than it did before.
and if you're a SC, GA, Bama, ARK or KY fan, do you now look at the TN game on the schedule as a game you should win now? as i sit here today, i can't honestly look at any of those games and say "yes, we'll win that game, w/out a doubt".
this just sucks. if for no other reason than to have our season last longer than 3 weeks, or the percepiton of our season lasting longer than three weeks, can we not put off the loss to FL until at least the end of October starting in the very near future?
still very frustrated............
