So far in preseason magazines I've seen us rated from the mid 30's all the way as low as 62 or some ridiculous #. It seems like we have a lot of ground to make up in the eyes of the pollsters. I just want to know when you all think that we will have worked our way back into the top 25, if at all. Personally, I think with 2 very convincing wins over WKU and UCLA we could possibly be back in (very convincing). I think the most likely point would be a win over Auburn and a 4-1 record (sorry for the assumption about the L to the Gators, but at this point it's very likely). Eventually I see us possibly ending the season riding a 5 or 6 game win streak and moving into the top 15 and a trip to the Chick-fil-a or maybe even Capital One Bowl if the chips fall into place.

What do you all think? What is our final ranking also?

I aplologize if there is already a thread devoted to this

"At what point do we crack the top 25 this season?"
After we beat UF and we hear Tebow's crying speech.

Assuming That we lose to Florida. (IF) we lose to Florida, and we lose by less than 14 we crack the Top 25. Possibly.Assuming also that we won the other games convincingly. Also that other teams in the top 25 lose games they should have won.

I doubt a 4-1 record will do it unless UT plays Florida reasonably close. Beating W-KY, UCLA, Ohio and Awbarn probably won't be impressive enough to crack it. But if UGA beats OK St. to open its season and remains undefeated and then UT beats UGA and goes to 5-1, UT should definitely crack the top 25 and probably the top 20. Short of UT beating Florida, that's the soonest I would expect to see it happen.

If we start out 4-1, and play well against UF I think it will be hard to keep us out of the Top 25. Just out of curiosity when was the last time that UA and UF met in the regular season? I'd like to see you guys play every year.

They last met in the regular season in 2006

i say we break the top 25 after a good bowl win in a 2nd tier bowl game to end up 9-4 and have a 4 game winning streak to end the season.

Unless we win each game in a blowout.

UT might make in at 4-1 as you say, but it also depends on what's happening with the teams that were ranked ahead of UT.

I think 2006 was the last time Bama played UF. Bama is due to play UF in 2010 & 2011 in place of Kentucky. Of course Bama vs UT is the every-year SEC E/W match-up for our teams, and similarly UF vs LSU is an every-year match-up.

I'm hoping Bama will get another crack at Florida in Atlanta this season.

Was that the game when the kid broke his leg?... Man, that was ugly to see.
That was 2005, when bama was drumming them already 31-3 and Shula had his best player in the game late in the 4th....If I was Tyrone Prothro I would have a hatred for Mike Shula that was rivaled by nothing else because that took that boy's NFL future away

19-Never.
Yeah it's definitely been a long time, we will get in the top 25 if we can start out 4-1...If we absolutely destroy UCLA we may get in just so they can advertise a match up of 2 top 25 teams for the Florida game the following week, and as long as we don't get killed, this is saying that we crack the top 25 mind you before the UF game, we won't drop too far and hopefully get back into it after/if we beat Auburn
