Lots of hand wringers, knee clackers, and nervous loose bowels, OP you are in this category. Would never want to be facing a tough situation with you in my foxhole man. Your adversaries are always ten feet tall and scare you, Little Vol is the correct handle in my opinion, bask in it.
A great coach doesn't allow the team to relax. Changes had to be made. CBJ won't fire himself, he is too competative for that. And all those 4th down conversions were enough for Jancek to get fired. I met him once and was impressed. My brother told him I was expecting a blitz every play, he said I sounded like his wife. He should have paid more attention to his wife.

I'm confident Shoop can fix most of the problems we encountered last season on the Defensive side of the ball. On the Offensive side better pass protection should help alleviate some of the inconsistencies in the passing game. Add a more seasoned WR core and there is no reason we can't put up a huge number points in every game this season.
I too love the blitz.

who played bama better? us or clemson?
who played florida better? us or georgia?
it's college football. we were very close last year to being very good.
Yes, we were close. But, to the contrary, keep in mind that if that USC tight end doesn't fumble, we probably lose that game.
Think of three fallout. Another giant 4th quarter collapse where we were ahead by 21, at home, and against an unranked team with an interim head coach. Then we finish 7-5 and end up in the Hormel Chili Bowl or something. We're ranked maybe 20-25 preseason and Butch sits squarely on the hot seat for 2016. That means Shoop would have been a fool to make a "lateral" move top come here. Probably no Kongbo etc, and who knows how the last class ends up.
But, like you said, it's college football and it can go either way based on a thin line.
Shoop may be MVP. I hope he is.
Id like to see Debord become more diverse in his playcalling. I think he was coaching towards our strenghts. He got to comfortable with the field position battle.
Our special teams are pretty good. Defense was good last year too. So overall i think he did well for a first year in the SEC
I agree. That game last year wasn't nearly as close as the score showed. We could've beat them 45-17
We looked superior to Florida, Alabama, and Oklahoma.
I actually believed we were better than two of those teams.
But under closer and repeated observations. We were not.
Bama sacked Dobbs a good amount. Also we could never really stop their ground game. Nor could Sutton stop Ridely.
Florida- couldnt stop their pass rush nor we stop their intermediate pass game.
Oklahoma got lucky imo. But they also didnt play well.
Debord was a decent playcaller last year, but will have to be better.
I don't know what to expect really from team 120.
Florida will be good.
Bama will be Bama.
UGA will be good too.
I don't think we're clearly better than UGA or UF. Its really close imo.
Va Tech will be a decent game as well. Texas A&M could be good.
To me- last year anyway- there was a lot of guys waiting for someone to make a play in crucial moments. But no one stepped and we let it slip.
Josh Malone had glimpses of taking charge against Bama. But then we went away from him.
Dobbs needs to see the rush better.
Debord needs to be a little better.
Defense needs to be more aware of down and distance.
We're really really close to being a very good team, that could make a run.
I think right now being #10 is just right. Florida should be top 15 as well.
It's going to be nerve racking year. A lot of tight ball games.
Who is going to be the vocal leader of our Defense this year? That person who is in everyone's ear telling them to not relax or let up and play til the final second. Kongbo may fill this role but I would like to see DKjr take on that duty.
Imagine you have the chance to make millions of dollars. And you turn it down because you feel like you have unfinished business with your team. That's going to make you pretty determined to succeed. Like carbon-hardened steel.
Yep, talking about Cam and JRM. Now, Cam's a quiet sort of guy, so when he does talk, his team mates pay attention. And JRM's the energy guy, pumping everyone up.
Others will contribute leadership, as well, it's not all just on Jalen and Cam's shoulders. Barnett up front is going to be pushing; Shoop has called Derek his "enforcer." And young Kirkland is a natural for the leadership role, as "QB of the defense"; he'll have a part, too.
Fact is, we've an embarrassment of riches in leadership on Team 120. It's truly going to be a team-led effort. And that's very, very promising for results.
Go Vols!
Didn't include Cam because he is quiet. Not exactly an in your face vocal type on the sideline but he garners a lot of respect from his teammates. TKjr may be another that can help in that area but JRM may be that guy.
Oh, for God's sake!
What do you expect? Every other team to just roll over while we cruise to the championship? Not gonna happen. That is why it is worth playing for.
Nerve racking? No kidding Captain Obvious, but nothing more so than the Arkansas game in 1998. In fact, grown men were pulling their hair out that entire season.
You are also fretting over problem from last season, issues that should have been addressed by now. And you are also letting a meaningless poll worry you, or you would not have mentioned it.
What's worse? You were probably walking around this time last year driving yourself crazy. And the year before, and so on.
Don't stress it so. Save it for game day. You'll live longer.

JRM is also a good choice.
