My general overall concern is that Tennessee didn't play well in several second halves last season, not just the games that were blown.

3 points in the second half against Arkansas and Missouri. 10 against South Carolina.

Florida will be good again this year. Everyone last year said we were going to stomp them. I was one of the few that said, they had a great shot being in Atlanta. Rest is history.

UGA is a tad bit more talented thsn us, but not as experienced.

Who cares if we win by one or fifty? The games will be tight this year.

I'd just like to point out that we played Bama after coming off a bye week and Bama had played a pretty rough gauntlet of games. That had to account for at least part of the reason why it was so close.

A great coach doesn't allow the team to relax. Changes had to be made. CBJ won't fire himself, he is too competative for that. And all those 4th down conversions were enough for Jancek to get fired. I met him once and was impressed. My brother told him I was expecting a blitz every play, he said I sounded like his wife. He should have paid more attention to his wife.

I'm confident Shoop can fix most of the problems we encountered last season on the Defensive side of the ball. On the Offensive side better pass protection should help alleviate some of the inconsistencies in the passing game. Add a more seasoned WR core and there is no reason we can't put up a huge number points in every game this season.

Id like to see Debord become more diverse in his playcalling. I think he was coaching towards our strenghts. He got to comfortable with the field position battle.

Our special teams are pretty good. Defense was good last year too. So overall i think he did well for a first year in the SEC

We were good last year, I'm wanting great things from #120. Just need to finish strong.

Dobbs has to be more consistent.
Playcalling needs to be a bit better. Not much, but a little more variation.

Thats really the key to our season

I think we take it to Texas A&M.
Mizzou will be a tougher game than A&M.

Then we finish 7-5 and end up in the Hormel Chili Bowl or something. We're ranked maybe 20-25 preseason and Butch sits squarely on the hot seat for 2016. That means Shoop would have been a fool to make a "lateral" move top come here. Probably no Kongbo etc, and who knows how the last class ends up.

But, like you said, it's college football and it can go either way based on a thin line.

Good point. He hoped the D could hold and failed miserably at putting up points in the second half. I hope he learned that Wolf needs more touches in the second half of games.

Maybe. Maybe not. If we had scored a TD on our 1st possession from the 1 yd line rather than Hurd fumbling and it being returned for a TD, and if the refs had actually called the block in the back on the UGA punt return for a TD, then we can add 7 pts to our 1st half score and take 14 from UGA's 1st half score. Which means the score would have been 10-10 by the time of the possession where Dobbs completed the 2 4th down throws. With the score tied 10-10 I doubt seriously the staff would have been in desperation mode so would have punted rather than going for it on 4th down at midfield. And if we don't score on that possession then we don't force a fumble on the ensuing KO. So if we punt rather than going for it on 4th down, then unless UGA scores before half time then it is like 10-10 at the half. We outscored UGA 21-7 in the 2nd half so I think we would have won 31-17.

We looked superior to Florida, Alabama, and Oklahoma.

I actually believed we were better than two of those teams.

But under closer and repeated observations. We were not.

Bama sacked Dobbs a good amount. Also we could never really stop their ground game. Nor could Sutton stop Ridely.

Florida- couldnt stop their pass rush nor we stop their intermediate pass game.

Oklahoma got lucky imo. But they also didnt play well.

Debord was a decent playcaller last year, but will have to be better.

I don't know what to expect really from team 120.

Florida will be good.
Bama will be Bama.
UGA will be good too.

I don't think we're clearly better than UGA or UF. Its really close imo.

Va Tech will be a decent game as well. Texas A&M could be good.

To me- last year anyway- there was a lot of guys waiting for someone to make a play in crucial moments. But no one stepped and we let it slip.

Josh Malone had glimpses of taking charge against Bama. But then we went away from him.

Dobbs needs to see the rush better.
Debord needs to be a little better.
Defense needs to be more aware of down and distance.

We're really really close to being a very good team, that could make a run.

I think right now being #10 is just right. Florida should be top 15 as well.

It's going to be nerve racking year. A lot of tight ball games.

Didn't include Cam because he is quiet. Not exactly an in your face vocal type on the sideline but he garners a lot of respect from his teammates. TKjr may be another that can help in that area but JRM may be that guy.

Your right about JRM, he is the only one I've heard address how the team relaxed last year with a lead. He also is the one that made a video for the team to watch, looking for the 25 points.

JRM did say Cam wasn't big on trash talking during the game. I think it was the SC where Cam and JRM cover the same receiver leaving one open for a nice gain. After the play Cam gave him a look and that's all that was needed for JRM to own the mistake. So don't sell Cam short on being a vocal leader sometimes a look speaks volumes.

We have a self motivated team, the Captains will lead, few will need a push from them, but if they do, plenty will step up and give them the push that's required.

D Barnett has a good shot to really dominate and lead by example.
