We looked superior to Florida, Alabama, and Oklahoma.

I actually believed we were better than two of those teams.

But under closer and repeated observations. We were not.

Bama sacked Dobbs a good amount. Also we could never really stop their ground game. Nor could Sutton stop Ridely.

Florida- couldnt stop their pass rush nor we stop their intermediate pass game.

Oklahoma got lucky imo. But they also didnt play well.

Debord was a decent playcaller last year, but will have to be better.

I don't know what to expect really from team 120.

Florida will be good.
Bama will be Bama.
UGA will be good too.

I don't think we're clearly better than UGA or UF. Its really close imo.

Va Tech will be a decent game as well. Texas A&M could be good.

To me- last year anyway- there was a lot of guys waiting for someone to make a play in crucial moments. But no one stepped and we let it slip.

Josh Malone had glimpses of taking charge against Bama. But then we went away from him.

Dobbs needs to see the rush better.
Debord needs to be a little better.
Defense needs to be more aware of down and distance.

We're really really close to being a very good team, that could make a run.

I think right now being #10 is just right. Florida should be top 15 as well.

It's going to be nerve racking year. A lot of tight ball games.

At times, I'll give you that, but doesn't prove much, only at times.....along the lines of If, and buts were candy and nuts

I agree. They have alot to prove. Im not going to blindly trust that they can get it done without proof. They do have all potential in the world

Nice point, Aaron.

We played Bama about as close as #2 Clemson did. We played Bama better than #21 Wisconsin, #16 LSU, or #6 Michigan State did.

We played Oklahoma about as well as #7 TCU did, and closer than #13 Baylor or #20 Oklahoma State did.

No "moral victories" here, no cheering on a defeat, just the point that we played some of the very best teams in the country really close in 2015, closer and better than several teams that ranked above us in the final polls.

We certainly were on the brink of greatness last year, just shy of passing over the lip.

Think we're there now.

Go Vols!

JRM said it best, the team relaxed with the lead. They have identified the problem and it's been corrected. Had we not relaxed against the four teams we lost to, we would have played more games.

So we ran up the middle too much. No kidding. Every fan identified this from day one. What took the staff and team so long?

There were many mistakes, but the biggest was the team relaxed.

Yes we ran up the middle too much, fumbled too much, dropped too many passes, missed too many tackles, blocks, picks, throws and FGs.

UGA will have 2 loses maybe 3 before we play them. Missouri will be tough for UGA to beat with no running, a freshman QB, and average wide recievers. Right now I have them losing to UNC and Ole Miss.

Lots of hand wringers, knee clackers, and nervous loose bowels, OP you are in this category. Would never want to be facing a tough situation with you in my foxhole man. Your adversaries are always ten feet tall and scare you, Little Vol is the correct handle in my opinion, bask in it.

I'd just like to point out that we played Bama after coming off a bye week and Bama had played a pretty rough gauntlet of games. That had to account for at least part of the reason why it was so close.

If that was the case we would still have Jancek.

I'm afraid UT's defense has been the blame for not being able to stop teams in the 4th quarter...and rightfully so, from my seat.....tackling and pass coverage must improve for the Vols to make it to Atlanta

Depth wins the 4th qtr. It should be better this year.

A great coach doesn't allow the team to relax. Changes had to be made. CBJ won't fire himself, he is too competative for that. And all those 4th down conversions were enough for Jancek to get fired. I met him once and was impressed. My brother told him I was expecting a blitz every play, he said I sounded like his wife. He should have paid more attention to his wife.

My general overall concern is that Tennessee didn't play well in several second halves last season, not just the games that were blown.

3 points in the second half against Arkansas and Missouri. 10 against South Carolina.

Accurate. As good as we were, we were just as bad at times. Seems a lot was mental, a relaxed team is not as good as a focused team. CBJ likes to play it close to the vest.
