who really believed this team should win the SEC Championship. If you did you weren't thinking with your heart and not your brain. You lose your top 3 WR, a couple of people on the O and D line and 3 starters in the secondary before the opening game. I think with all the injuries in the secondary and the youth on the line you have to be proud of the way this team improved. I mean after the Alabama game most people thought we would lose atleast 2 more. I think next year and the year after we should expect a SEC title even with a new QB. We will should have better depth and be able to stretch the field aliitle more with a QB who throw the ball deeper. What we really need is a fullback to be lead blocker so we can run run the ball more with an I-formation. I would like to see Creer step up in the offseason to give us a back with more speed to compliment Foster. I actually feel good about this teams chances the next few years.

I'm sorry for being the eternal pessimist but with the talent that UGA and UF will have, plus having to play Auburn the next two seasons, I do not think it is realistic to expect the Vols to represent the East again until 2010 at the earliest and if that is going to happen Phillip is going to have to step it up significantly in recruiting this year.

That aside, the Vols finished with about the same record I expected but I had no idea they would get to Atlanta.

I said before the season, no SEC title, no more Phil, please.

We have a senior QB with tons of experience. It wasn't far out to think we could compete for the SEC, pre-season.

I always think the Vols will win the SEC(heart)
They will always have 3 or more loses(brain)

Sounds like another moral victory story. Do we get rings for that or just for winning half of the sec?

They do get rings for winning the East.........

They do now. Fred White said on the radio they didn't get rings unless they won actual titles and furthermore stated that this was clearly explained to him and his parents during the recruiting process. I think its sad we reward winning meaningless nothings...

I think three teams in the east should have top ten talent the next few years. Florida is going to be great and so is Georgia. Georgia schedule is toughest. They play at LSU and Auburn next next year and get Alabama again. I think new blood generates new ideas, and we need that. The contract extension talk right now is nuts. All I am saying is most people picked us to finish 3rd in the east at the start of the year. It seem like alot of people think this team should have been a national title contender. We have seen the talent level of the past 4 or 5 senior classes drop steadily. I think the Soph. and Fresh. are going to get us a win in Atl. before they are gone

and thats the truth.

we do have some saving faces to battle the threats that each of those teams has (good lbs, dbs getting exp., wrs getting exp). but we're going to go through what kentucky went through this year. amazing teams week in and week out will put strain on your team and wear the depth very very thin.
