'26 ASU Transfer QB Sam Leavitt (LSU)

At quarterback, the news of the week has been the extended stay of Sam Leavitt who arrived on Wednesday and is leaving on Friday. Leavitt has gotten plenty of time with OC/QB coach Joey Halzle who has a tie to Leavitt’s brother. Leavitt and Heupel got a lot of one on one time especially Thursday night. Our sources say that he has had a really great visit and Tennessee is prepared to go all in for him if he feels the same way. But it doesn’t appear Leavitt is shutting anything down. It appears Leavitt will head down to Miami this weekend to check out the ‘Canes. Also everyone still wonders if Leavitt is waiting on quarterback news out of Oregon before he decides anything.

"Allegedly" the guy who just went into the portal from USC (Longstreet) is Oregon's plan at QB.... allegedly

Not being a nega, but it feels to me if he doesn’t leave committed/signed, then he’s going elsewhere. Being from Oregon, that could be his dream school and what he’s waiting on. And we know they can pay top of market. Guess we have to hope Moore stays put. And then Miami probably has more to sell and possibly more money to offer. That Carson Beck template looks really attractive right now.

Yeah I think at this point overpay for Coleman and maybe go for Pribula or a small school QB.

Look at the other activity. It’s obvious there are QBs out there that can translate to this level. Heupel just isn’t imaginative enough. Hell, Joey was a more known prospect than Chambliss. The bulk of $$ needs to go to defense. You can’t tell me there isn’t a guy close to the level of an Aguilar that would jump at the possibility and would come with a reasonable price tag. The ODU QB would have been the most obvious.

@Stoerner Fumbles do you know anything about the plan with the QB position that you can share? I’m going to admit to being a little frustrated with the way we’ve handled the portal, but super frustrated with the way we’ve handled the QB position! Please, tell me something good lol.

I'll believe Leavitt to TN when I see it. I think we're in a bad spot now with the QB position. Ty seemed to be plan #1 and that didnt work out so now Leavitt is the only other option. Just sucks we cant find out something on Joey sooner.
If they bring in someone like Pribula, I give Gmac and Brandon both legit shots to win the job because I cant see next year being a playoff contention team if thats your QB room.

I believe at Nebraska Ravioli ( I know I just like to make fun of his last name) wasn't put in the best situation to succeed.. Nebraska had no skill position people and their offensive line was garbage. I understand people don't like his antics and wanting to be like his hero MaHomes but if CJH can make Joe Milton and Hendon Hooker into adequate QB's why couldn't he do terrific things with Dylan Ravioli?

Yes I wouldn't be upset with him at all.. think he has alot of talent and this is a qb friendly system.

Remember, the options aren't just limited to who is in the portal. We can back-chasnnel with agents and see who else we can get interest from. Somtimes, guys just enter the portal knowing where they're going because the deals have already been negotiated.

So who's "out there" is anyone who hasn't signed a deal for 2026.

Every indication is we don't back channel or tamper though. We follow the letter of the law, so they have to show up in the portal.

I’m sure he’d be much better here and he wasn’t bad there but he can’t move. That’s the only thing I don’t like about him

Of course we do. Everyone does. Because back-channeling through agents is not against the rules.

Tennessee tried to get Hoover and Altmyer to jump into the portal last year through back channels. That's well known.
