...what are the realistic chances the University will go "outside the family" for a replacement? I hear names like Gruden, Stoops, Tedford, Pelini, etc...all the time on this board. I was just wandering why, strictly from a realistic standpoint, somebody like Cutcliff would not be a very real possibility. Not saying Cut is my first choice, just pointing out the possibility is there with MH and company running things.

Also, I think I know the answer to this, but are there really any Fulmer supporters left on this board? Can we all call for Fulmer's job now without being convicted of being bad, fairweather, disloyal, and Vol hating fans?

If Hamilton has enough balls to actually fire Fulmer or make him retire. I would hope he would shell out the big $$$ for a good coach.....I hope

BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO GO THROUGH WHAT ALABAMA DID

with Tommy back at Nebraska I'm afraid we may have lost all hope for Mr. Pelini. I don't really know that we had much of a shot anyways.

Why would we want Tedford? He is just like Ferentz. The Ferentz rumors have terrified me, but I hope/ think Hamilton is too smart for that.

For the record, I am not saying I am a proponent of any of those names. I was just wandering what the realistic chances are of MH going outside for the replacement.

CarterVol...I know there have been about a million threads about which replacement would be best, who is available, etc...but I couldn't find one about what the realistic chances are for bringing in somebody completely new, completely separated from who the coach may actually be. Please point me to the thread that deals with this specifically and I will stop beating this dead horse. Thanks.

hamilton would give him 5 as base, 1 more for the conference championship, and throw in another for the chick fil a bowl.

I don't think Pelini will or would go back to NU. I work with a lot of Nebraska fans and they say there is no way in he!! he would come back after the way they did him up there. They would like to have him but they are realistic and just don't see it happening.

I thought that too.... until this week. They got rid of who screwed him over. Guess we'll see.

MH's decision to bring in Bruce Pearl for MBB is panning out so far. I would hope he shows the same good sense in choosing a new FB coach.

But the inmates always seem to run the asylum so I'm not sure now likely it is they will go outside the family.

Gruden. If we're going to change horses (which I'm a BIG proponent of), then I think we should go in a radically different direction. Fulmer is a reserved, laid-back, aww-shucks kind of a guy. I think the energy, work ethic, fire, and charisma of Gruden would be just what the doctor ordered for this program (a la Coach Pearl).

Cutcliff for coach? Are you kidding? He hasn't improved the offense at all. Absolutely no difference than having Sanders except that we waste more money on him.

Whoa... easy, let's pull back on the reins a little bit. I'm thinking more along the lines of $3-3.5 million with incentives maybe bringing it to 4.5... maybe. He may just go and get a lower profile guy (which is what I think he will do) and maybe play around in the $2 million range. Keep in mind that UT would still have to buyout Fulmer and his staff's remaining contracts. If our next coach get anywhere near $5 million, I would be shocked.
