Anyone started on this yet?

I'm about 10 hours in, I'm enjoying it. It's definitely gone back to its stealth roots, the missions have more of a "Hitman" feel than previous titles. Still a bit clunky with climbing and getting stuck around ledges,

It's a good game. Story is intriguing so far. Almost no animus content, which is a good thing.

Combat is horrible, but I think that's by design. They clearly don't want you going into enemy bases and being able to just hack down 20 enemies to take over the base.

I didn't know that it was out already. I'm a little skeptical of going back to the same location. Just a minor nitpick on my part because I like the different twists on history. Odyssey was one of my favorites even though it dragged at times. Like you said, sounds like they want you to play stealthy.(which I like) I'll have to check it out down the road as I'm finishing up Baldurs Gate 3.

I get lost in all the middle eastern historical places, but I don't think this is the exact same place.

Assassins creed is at its best being a historical RPG. They lost me with the 100 hours of filler in every game for the last few entries.

I'm about 10 hours in and taking my time. It's definitely an improvement and more back to their roots, but still not quite there. I do like that now you have to have a way to climb up things and not just an climb up whatever. It's still a bit too easy to clear out enemies imo. The "old school" AC games really made it hard to do that and really tried to force you into stealh. This one you can but you can also still just whistle for them to to your hiding spot and you take them out.

Origins was good but it started to lose me when it started getting to deep into the anicent folklore/religions and acting like there was actually places and gods and it seemed like they lost their own narrative. The original ones had a somewhat complex narrative but not THAT complex. It just got hard to follow and then with Odysseey and Valhalla my goodness those games just went on and on with the extra content.

The best part of Odyssey was hunting down the Cultists. I've long thought that should be the formula moving forward. Open-world exploration, but the ultimate goal is to track down and assassinate certain targets who are out and about in the world.

I'm playing through Odyssey right now and I concur. The world is massive (probably too much so) and the game can be tedious, but the cultist missions are the most fun.

Yeah, I had a blast going after them while underleveled. Had to use every tool at my disposal and usually escaped by the skin of my teeth.

AC needs to get rid of the "smoke bomb" too. If I get overwhelmed I just throw one down and assassinate everyone trapped in the smoke.

Either get rid of it or stop making them all into assassination targets after you throw it down.
