ASGR recruiting classes rank

One thing that excites me about this upcoming class is that they seem to have a pretty high basketball IQ!

this is key
low IQ with athleticism doesn't bode well for any program

You only need 2-3 who can create their own shots off the dribble or post-up,,the rest are position/purpose players

I love how no one addresses that fact that there are 1st year coaches at programs who have not had to “rebuild”. UNC has a great class and they haven’t been relevant since Latta was there. I also love how the players we recruited are “high IQ” because they aren’t “highly ranked”. You can have all the IQ you want, but if you are unable to play in the SEC....it’s going to show. I agree that no one knows, but most of the good players end up being good players in college. We can be an elite eight-final four program every year again....parity is just what people like to say....the final 4 is basically the same teams every year. You know why? Because they are getting the best players.

I get so sick of hearing that if you don’t say that Kellie’s recruits are undervalued or not rated correctly, then you are negative. I disagree. I think it makes you a realist and you can see with your own eyes that the players we are recruiting, who are highly ranked, don’t want to come here. We are getting the second or third tier recruits. Even Pat wouldn’t have been able to win with players who weren’t highly talented. Yes, she would take a player here and there not rated high, but she would mix in a couple top 10 players to go with it. You can’t have a class full of “high IQ” players without a star.

Come next year, when there is no Rennia, Rae will be doubled and face guarded. Open shots will be a thing of the past for Rae. That is because there is NO ONE on this team to alleviate the loss of Rennia. The great teams replace their stars with other stars...it’s not happening here. Sorry. I don’t want to be the negative poster. I just don’t see the roster being replenished with the talent we need to win big.

What is talent that fits Kellie’s system? I noticed someone said they wouldn’t want great players, if they didn’t fit your system....so, what is Kellie’s system? Are we going for a really tall, slow team with no legitimate PG? We must have offered 4 or 5 PG’s that turned us down before we got Miles. Again, I’m not wanting to point these things out. I just think expectations shouldn’t be lowered at Tennessee. If anything, expectations should be higher.
If big IQ underrated players was the goal in the SEC then why does Mizzou not win the SEC every year 🤷‍♀️

Because Mizzou does not have a Rennia, JH and Rae to go with them...this is not to say that they are low IQ players who are athletes,,,but it is to say that they are all supreme athletes

Who isn't highly ranked anyone in the top 100 is considered highly ranked and the top fifty are always four and five star players. Any class ranked in the top 20 is considered highly ranked and any class ranked in the top ten by any service would certainly qualify as highly ranked.

Also the misconception that the players in this Tennessee class are not athletic is totally false. All four have plenty of athletic ability to go with high IQ play.

huh? i thought you were a big Miles and Striplin fan? or am i misreading your message ?
I was speaking more towards the type of athletic players coming in
Striplin I am VERY high on as a PF/elbow forward and lowpost driver,,,Miles I was fully onboard with but something happened that makes me wonder if she has a thick enough skin to stand the pressures of UT LV BB fanbase

I am equally high on Puckett and she is more athletic,,,but Ren, Rae and JH are in a class by themselves athletically

Coach you know better how kids change than most on here but I wouldn’t not be excited about Miles. I obviously don’t know the thing you refer to but kids mature and being in a new situation like college allows them to “try on” new roles and emotional approaches. The LV program seems very family like to me. Her teammates will be there for her and help her. I can’t wait to see her in orange!
Also, as there a better athlete in the entire class KW?!?

What happened? Did you show her a post on here?

No, I fussed at her "one time" for continually being the last one down the court in a game I watched and she blocked me...Double whammy.....thin skin and lack of effort...two things I have little patience for, in a player

So in other words...instead of engaging with an overzealous fan who was overstepping his boundary with her, she chose to just cut the unnecessary distractions out. Sounds like a keeper to me!

Coach, forgetting all of the above posts for a minute...

Has Miles developed an outside shot?
I did see one game listed where she scored around 25...

Her outside shooting was lousy the two games I looked at from last season...I have no idea for this season...

Sorry GT, but I haven't followed her this year at all...I have kept up with the other 3 and could tell you anything you want to know, but not with Miles

When they abandon me, I abandon them...out of respect.
I consider this thought when it comes to my athletes...If I lose you, I never had you.
sorry

Sorry you and Miles had a falling out...It happens sometimes.
You were one of the few people on this forum that was once wild about her...Her outside shooting, or lack there of, was always a major concern to me..

I've always wanted 5 scorers on the floor at the same time, not like the limited scorers we have had this season...Although, the last few games the scoring has been much better.

I've followed the other three, especially Striplin...She will be a major player at the 4 or 3 for us...The girl has it all...

Please tell me you don’t view a student athlete blocking you because they didn’t want your unsolicited advice as abandonment. It just comes off as inappropriate, and that’s me being kind.

FYI,, I communicated with her and her AAU coach for two months,,if I was an unsolicited or unwanted intrusion, I would have been blocked much sooner...it was only after she was signed that this happened

@GameTime I still consider her a very good get,,,she is a defensive monster, very quick and attacks the rim...I just distance myself from anyone who wants space, thats all
