Jesus Christ, watching these videos it doesn't matter if the receivers were open or not. OU had people in our backfield AT ALL TIMES.

When Azzani bolts for whatever MAC job he needs to take Mahoney with him. I believe Jayson Swain would make a great WR coach and replacement for Azzani.

Somebody needs to email this to everyone in our Vols AD to try to make certain all our coaches get this.

Good read, thanks OP.

Think there is any Body that coached at a Michigan School thats worth a damn, if we did make a few changes you know he would have to have ties from a Michigan school.:dunno:

But they started blitzing when they realized that our WRs were getting no separation. Both oline and wrs are to blame, but there are formations and plays in our offense to help this. Unfortunately they were not called on Saturday night.

Good stuff Oklahoma did turn it up
but we stopped ourselves on 2 drives. Von Pearson slips knee touches making it 2nd and 16 drive over before starting.

Hurd fumbles and recovers for 12 yard loss making it 2nd and 22... this was with a lead and I cannot blame coaches for calling conservative on 2nd and very long with a decent lead.

If we had not put ourselves in these 2 situations just a couple first downs would have shortened the game. My 2 cents..

We would have held on but still like we are today... with Dobbs no downfield passing WR's no separation Oline iffy..

Butch also has ties to Urban Meyer so there's that.

Well I watched all the videos and the times they said someone wasn't open is when Dobbs held on to the ball too long. Not receivers fault. The line is the biggest problem but they are better than last year. I thought Dobbs would run more too. Either way, me nor any of you have a clue what is wrong. They are the coaches for a reason.

Really good analysis and write-up, Ace. Hits all the elements of Saturday's anemic throw game. And underscores that this was a team loss; every element of the offense, from coaches to QB to WRs to OLine even to the RBs and TEs, can improve their game so we don't get beat this way again.

Dooley was a coach too.

Guys, it appears from the film that the biggest problem we have is the same as last year. The OL is pathetic. If major improvement does come in two weeks, we lose to Fl., Ga., Bama, Mizzou. and tossup with Ky, SC, and Ark. JMO

My guess is that we will see more Hall and Jones on Saturday. I don't believe that Butch and DeBoard are oblivious to what is going on with our Oline, and they will make some adjustments, including seeing if freshman can play better than upperclassmen.

Seems I recall Butch saying that Hall "was going to help us win a lot of games". It can't come soon enough.

Yea Hall and Jones will play. DeBord and Jones are still not happy with the O-lines aggressiveness. And also expect them to try to redshirt Richmond.

Great article. Guys I am gonna be honest I like ZA as a recruiter. As a position coach not so much. Our wide outs have been horrible against press man coverage for 3 years.I don't know if it's technique he's teaching or what.We just have simply struggled with iT for the last 3 years .I think we have strong, quick, fast athletes at the position but some thing is not right.Even the catches they do make its usually with a dB draped over them or running stride for stride.I was a DL in HS and a little longer so I don't know the receiver position as far as technique goes. Some one with a little more knowledge of the position please enlighten me.
