Article: SEC has an Officiating Problem

SEC responded and said all was good.
That is the real problem. The SEC Office. I really feel that people in other conferences have it right when then make comments about the legitimacy of the SEC. I have been following SEC football since the mid-1960’s and the credibility is at its worse now.

Sankey was on the Sports Animal tonight, and he seemed to have no real comment other than, "The officials strive to get it right."

I expect the SEC will add another officiating crew. The bunch that did this Maryland high school game last Friday fit Commissioner Stinky's qualifications.
Scroll to 1:53 minutes
BTW, the real reason those refs fit Stinky's quals is the benefit of the no call of 10 players beyond the line of scrimmage on a pass play went to that league's undefeated team.

Stinky's kind of refs

With technology we have today and the impact of bad calls the only excuse for the sh**show from officiating last night is that the SEC wants that. It would be easy to put a camera on the top of down markers to confirm what is happening on the line. It would be easy to set up a “monitoring” booth manned by reps from both schools and independent observers. Cops wear cameras, how about referees. After the third flop, play should have been stopped and coaches notified floppers were out for next 15 minutes of game clock. We are talking about a multi-million dollar business per game. Hire an independent, real time, review contractor.

Ask Penn State about SEC refs…they couldn’t even count to four! How does a whole crew confuse 3rd down for 4th down? This wasn’t in a hurry up offense - just lost track of the down.

It sounds like, according to these SEC officials, that a fumble cannot happen once a runner reaches his furthest point. So a receiver who makes a catch across the middle and back tracks to try to get around defenders and get more yardage can fumble and will still maintain possession???

I’m sorry, but this is not how football is played and these clowns are actually officiating in the SEC. What a joke.

It’s a scary thought isn’t it? How many more teams not named Georgia and Bama will get screwed over by these officials

Isn't it strange--maybe terrible is a better word--what has happened to the SEC? I remember when we used to chant "SEC! SEC!" because we felt a commonality with other teams like Ga, Fla, Bama (whenever we weren't playin head-to-head with them). But now we feel like Sankey and the SEC are working against us. And you know what? They ARE. The big money is made when a few teams are artificially kept at the top so the conference can keep winning national championships. Or when ranked teams are favored over unranked teams in SEC games so the Top 25 poll can continue to maximize the number of SEC teams. Money is also made when refs do little things to influence the game in favor of Vegas betting. All this to say, the SEC does not seem like something I'm proud to be part of anymore. It feels like an enemy that is working against its own members...corrupt, infiltrated by outside monetary interests, and working on behalf of the few. And the Big Orange is not one of those few. The SEC is indifferent to the issue of parity because that would not keep as many $$$ flowing.

Those two were terrible. Me and my dad hated seeing Hubert Owen officiating a UT game he always made terrible calls against us. Ritter did too both were scumbags
