yeah, that's what i got out of it as well. as much as i'd like to think our D line has come along that much, it seems the O line is still learning.

work in progress.....man, it feels like we've been in that stage for 4 years....i guess cause we have.

i hope summer is productive so when fall camp starts they can get to the point where they are no longer learning.

"But right now, we’ve got to maximize every practice, so we’ll be in pads that day, and we’ll be hitting just like any other day.”
love how physical Kiffin is...

Not sure I agree with Wes saying it's a rebuilding project. This team lacked desire and offensive coaching last season, but there is plenty of talent. They can come together quickly and not necessarily be a rebuilding project.

I just like the fact that we are finally putting some guys on the field that can rush the passer. Getting Ben Martin and Walker on the field could be a dangerous duo at the ends. That can certainly help the rest of the defense.

Yes...but they will play hard and they will play disciplined. That is all that we can ask them to do.

I believe this as well. They might not be the most talented OL that has ever been on the hill, but I don't think they will lay down and quit this year. At least they better not, or they will be riding the pine. The new sheriff is a little different than the old.

I think we will find five guys that are SEC caliber. It is the injury bug that frightens me.

i think it is a rebuilding project from an attitude, culture and mentality stand point.

and there are some spots on the team itself that are in need of rebuilding as well.

The injury bug scares every team, we should be no different. And it's not just this year. It seems like we have several "what coulda beens" every year after an injury.

Agree, I was lumping those in one category of desire. They are better spelled out in detail.

or what? Geez, Kiffin talks about how the offense can't do anything competently but run off tackle and throw swing pages; Jones says players heads are spinning. It seems like our guys are easily confused. We've got a very experienced first group on the offensive line--but they apparently don't have their act together...Oh, my! I've got a feeling we'll be scratching our heads again come fall after watching the offense...

on the first unit offense, against the first unit defense--and see what he can do? I keep hearing that he's doing well--but against the second unit defense, blah blah. Let him face the first unit defense and then compare him to Crompton...

I think the team is a little better than we think.. I think Kiff is the type that is never satisfied (which is a good thing) and he expects them to continously improve (which they should).... These guys have seen 3 OC and schemes.. in 3 years.. I'm not sure how they couldn't be a little confused.. I think they will be a lot better in the fall once the system has time to settle in over the summer.. I honestly don't think it is a lack of effort, I really believe it is a lot to do with Confusion.. Plus keep in mind that they are facing an overall top 10 defense from last plus they have added a defensive guru to lead them.. We may not being the defense enough credit either that is causing the disruptions.. Of course I may drinking the orange kool-aid and wishful thinking, but I think we all will be suprised in the fall..

that's fair, but we've also heard that so far they've been running a fairly simplified offense....in Kiffin's words "we're still in the 60's"...as in 1960's offensively.

they obviously can get better, but i think it's apparent they still have a ways to go.

before they can do that they have to know what they are doing within this system. i don't know that they coaches are comfortable with that right now...

still a ways to go.

Let me know when you find a coach saying they are where they need to be on both sides of the ball right now.

in th context of a 1st year staff trying to install a new system....i don't think anyone out there is going to say, "yeah, we're ready to go tomorrow".

You won't find a coach anywhere saying they wished the season would start now because they are ready.

It's part of the process of getting ready.

I don't think we'll start a player that hasn't seen significant playing time in previous seasons. So we can remove the "deer in headlights" factor. We just need to get the verbiage installed and the S&C up to speed.

i beleive i just said that. i'm only talking about it in the context of this staff's first year with this program. i think they thought they might be a little further along by now, especially with the offensive line considering they've been running a simplified version of the offense for the bulk of Spring Ball.

It just seems that the QB problem stems all the other problems on offense. It is like the central-hub and if it does not operate functionally nothing else can either. The QBs seem nothing more than a flat out bust as far as progression goes. Whatever chemistry they had established in HS was never able to turnover to the college side. I know everyone would love to see the next coming of Peyton from BJ, Jonathon, and Nick but in reality these guys are just mediocre at best.

I am not even sure if it is the wrong system with the guys either. I think they have zero confidence at this point and forgot what "right" looks like at the QB position. I think if we had some stable QB play over the last 3-4 years the transition into QB would be much easier but we are constantly struggling to find an identity for a starting QB right now.

I think you're reading too much into coach speak. Maybe not, just my opinion.
