The coaches are definitely sandbagging. I have no idea who is going to start and/or do what. Adkins says Frogg is the 6th man while Fulmer says it is McClendon. CPF says that our young WRs have work to do while CTT insists that O'Neal and Vinson will be doing big things. The coaches have listed about 6 DBs as starters, as well as 4-5 KR starters. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens and who plays and how much on Saturday.

No kidding...I have been trying to work up a starting lineup for a week now. It's obvious we aren't going to get a clear picture until the game, so I'm going to go with my gut for now and update Sat. night!

It will be very interesting to see what happens. Fulmer seems to want to put Rogan back for punt returns. If he can be as productive as Hef then I say do it so as to not risk an injury to your All-American Safety.

This is what I think will be the true starting lineup for Cal:

QB-Ainge
TB-Foster
HB-Brown
TE-J. Cottam
WR-Rogers
WR-Taylor
LT-Young
LG-Parker
C-McNeil
RG-Scott
RT-Foster

DE-Mitchell
DT-Mapu
DT-Bolden
DE-Reynolds
SLB-Karl
MLB-Mayo
WLB-McCoy
CB-Berry
CB-Johnson
SS-Parrish
FS-Hefney

P-Colquitt
K-Lincoln
KR-Foster
KR-Moore
PR-Hefney

I think there will be plenty of subs though. I think Lincoln gets to kick the short stuff, but I'm not sure about kickoffs. I think Hefney and Foster return the first punt/kick, but we work in some others guys after that.

I'm hardly a Spencer McFumble superfan or anything, but I don't like the idea of putting him out there for kickoffs and risking injury, granted it is football and that's part of the game. Just too many depth issues at RB...I hope they give Maples and Rogan a shot.

An injury by Hefney would be even more devastating than a McFumble injury, so that's a scary situation as well, but he's very experienced back there, and that will be needed in game one vs Cal.

Maples will prolly redshirt so he won't be returning any kicks. I don't think Rogan will return many kickoffs right now. I think Moore and O'Neal will return most of the kickoffs, along with Coker when he gets back, but, for the first kickoff, Foster will be back there. I think Hefney gets first punt and the either Rogers or Rogan after that.

McNeil isn't out. He had the flu and Frogg was playing in his place at center. McNeil will be starting and play most of the game against Cal.

If we get plenty of opportunities, it will be a good thing

The only problem I have with the lineups you have given HV, is that Karl will not get the start in the Cal game because he doesn't have the game conditioning yet that Meyers-White does at this point. Other than that I agree with them all.

AMW has been out some too. He was held out of most of the last scrimmage. I think Karl starts because he is a leader and he knows the defense. He makes the calls on the field and AMW can't do that yet. Karl has already been conditioned, it is just a built-in thing with him.

The element of surprise, I think in the off season and final preps we have given far too much info. that had been used aginst us. I hope CAL has a LOT of unpleasant surpries coming.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us open with the mustang on defense to match the 3 wide that they will likely throw at us. Then the coaches wouldn't be sandbagging when they said that we have 6 starters at DB.
