Here's a video from Top Gear where Sabine Schmitt (Queen of the Ring) tries to make the 13 mile loop of the infamous Nurburgring in a Ford Transit Van!

Pretty funny when she's passing guys on motorcycles!

You can schedule a ride in the Ring Taxi with Sabine - she'll take you and 2 others for a thrill ride around the "Ring" in an M5.

Here's a video of Sabine taking a group in the "taxi".

Turn-up the speakers - the V8 in the M5 sounds sweet as does the tire squeal.

No problem getting a sub-10 minute run this time --- all while calmly talking to 3 passengers...

Watching this video makes me realize how accurate Gran Turismo4 is - at least in terms of the Nurburgring - I could recognize many parts of the tracks by the landscape or the graffitti on the track.

Ten minutes around the ring in a van is ridiculous. She has to be the best ring driver ever.

Those guys on their sportbikes have to feel like total wusses to be passed by a transit van.

 I know. At least most bike guys I know are alright. Nothing personal VIB, but Porsche drivers can be real a-holes. I like the fact that they got shafted by a van.

There certainly is a stigma to driving a Porsche or BMW - people are eager to leave a door ding, not so eager to let you merge, etc.

Since I've got the Porsche, everyone wants to race me. The thing is, the car is not that fast. It's great on the track or in high-speed twisties but otherwise not anything special in terms of power. I guess most people don't know that.

The other night, a guy on a bike wanted to race me - does he think I'm an idiot? I know he'd smoke me or just about any other car. He wouldn't let it go - kept driving beside me no matter what speed I drove - real pain in the a@@.

The next day, a guy in a mudcovered 4x4 Toyota PU wanted to race me! WTF? It's nuts.

Germany is a fun place to drive. I would hit 75 to 80mph alot of times on the side roads and over 120mph or whatever the car would do on the Autobahn. Aahh. The good ole days.

Video doesn't work. I've seen it before, though. I'm pretty sure it's not the 'ring. I don't think the track has a straight long enough to hit top speed.

Bastard.

I treated the highway like the Autobahn on the way back from Seattle last weekend -- hit about 115 in my '86 Nissan. :dance2:

Personally, I like to drive fast in slow places -- see how fast I can take a 20mph turn as opposed to hitting top speeds. Just like coloring, I see how far I can push the limits while staying in the lines...
