Who will be watching this Saturday? I know I will be. All things considered, I would call this the greatest football rivalry in the nation's history.
I was looking at a book on my shelf that I had read years ago... "A Civil War: Army vs. Navy" by John Feinstein, and thought about this. This football rivalry goes back a century... Through all of the ups and downs of both teams, even when West Point's football team was a national power.
This game is it for these guys. Especially now. There is no glamor for the players in this game. The players will continue their duties as America's soldiers after it is over, while players from other schools all around the country will move on to pro status and get big contracts. But they still play their hearts out against eachother, for the traditions of their school. The stripping down of all other factors makes it a football rivalry in it's purest form. This game will be played with more emotion than any other game you will see.
I'm gonna pull for the Army between these two. A friend of mine who graduated last year was accepted into West Point.
But if you'd like to see one of the greatest American football rivalries, check this game out.
