He was only there for 2 months. How much money would Arky have paid him? Was the payment structure front-loaded or something?

I thought I heard it was $200k. Not positive on that though.

I think we should just stay away from this. We don’t need to get into a situation where they may claim we did something that wasn’t on the up and up. Just wash our hands of these clowns and move on.

Correct. In fact, they kind of already have done this. Someone from their camp already told Chris Low for his article today that Heupel + staff made him "false promises" about the roster for next year.

I don't know if Nico is or not, but his entourage is a complete joke. The crazy thing is that UCLA seems to know what they are getting into with them because Madden already jilted them and they've seen how Nico left Tennessee. They are kind of a desperate program though, and Nico does have NFL arm talent, so I guess I can see why.

From Deshaun Foster in the article:

"When's the last time we had this many people here talking to us?" Foster asked Tuesday. "You guys know what I'm saying, so this is a good buzz for us."

I know UCLA football is about 15th in the pecking order of what matters to sports fans in LA, but this reeks of desperation.

I have a weird feeling UCLA is going to be singing a different tune in about 7-8 months.

This season is either gonna go two ways-

1. Nico balls out, gets a high draft grade, then declares and turns things over to Madden after the season

2. Nico has another meh season with some good but more bad and nobody in their right mind would draft him after the season. Nico and crew hit the portal again and all the media talking heads blow up again.

I'm thinking option 2 is far more likely.

So they get sued for Nico and they sue us for Aguilar…let it die imo.

What could they sue us about for Aguilar?

If Nico and crew had not been idiots, Aguilar would still be in Westwood. UCLA made the decision they wanted Nico before we said one word to Aguilar I would wager.

On a side note-I hope Aguilar does well here-and not just because it's UT. Dude kinda got screwed a little bit it seems but has the opportunity to do something even better now . I would most likely be rooting for him wherever he ended up as my distaste for Nico is very strong ATM.

He now has a chance to lead a much better team in an environment that he will remember forever. Sure beats playing for a throwaway team in a half empty stadium
I only hope the young man steps us and does us all proud.

You have to admit, the trading QBs is very on brand for UT lol. May we come up on the winning end.

They also went after Bert Bielema after he took a $30k a year job with the Patriots and continued to collect his buyout from Arkansas I think they clawed about half his buyout back

Well they hired a former player who could barely make a complete sentence at his first press conference.

That was brutal. I felt bad for him.

It was something like
“I’m sure you big 10 guys don’t know much about UCLA.. Umm, we’re from Los Angeles. Us and USC… any questions?”

They paid him…at least as much as what Arkansas’s collective paid Madden. They do the recovery thing and it cuts that portion out of Aguilar’s payout.

Sounds like he had the same level of confidence that I had when I’d present a book report in high school

I'd just leave it be. The court of opinion is in your favor and the potential negative impact it could have on recruiting far outweighs whatever meager amount (relative to UT money) UT could get.
Would have till they start talking about missed payments being a reason for leaving. F them.
