Arian Foster

Foster might not have elite straight line speed. But he has tremendous lateral quickness and burst. Those are much more important than straight line speed. Against good defenses he is not going to be able to just hit a hole and run untouched straight towards the endzone. So straight line speed is a little over-valued in a RB.

He definitely has great lateral movement. For a big man, he is very shifty and can usually make the first tackler or two miss.

I guess we're all in agreeance that he has all the tools except straight line speed, but let's not kid ourselves and say that straight line speed isn't a valuable asset for a RB. I can think of a time or two when Coker was "able to just hit a hole and run untouched straight towards the endzone."

I am in no way bashing Foster. He is what he is, and he brings a lot to the table. He is both shifty and sturdy; he has great vision and a solid stiff arm. But the straight line speed would be real nice. It would turn those 5-7 yard runs that he makes with his shifty moves and strong stiff arm, into 20 yard runs.

Yeah... he made a kentucky player look DUMB on a 22 yard run, just side stepped, laughed, and kept running. He busted a huge 50+ yarder one game

I won't complain a bit... Keep it up kid

I admire his ability and he's been a big help to the team, but i just don't like him. His mouth, his antics and his fumbles at costly times have made me hope for him to move on.

Name one truly 'costly' fumble besides Penn St in that toilet bowl we were in.

I think that was more of a question of this year, but I could be mistaken.

He's had plenty of opporitunities to fumble the ball and blow the game and hasn't.
The only other one I can think of is the UF hand-off fumble, but that is up in the air and still wouldn't be entirely his fault. That fumble did start the decline of the team's morale in the game.

people only say that when they don't have a sense of humor. Foster likes to joke around and some can't handle it. Football is serious!!

ahhhHA! I don't know if someone had some obscure quote from him saying something like:

"I'm shifty and I have good vision. But I'd like to be faster and have more leg strength. I'd like to think that I'm as good as Reggie Bush (USC) who also played down here in San Diego (Helix HS). But Reggie's faster than me."

...or something.

I do think that Foster is set up for a good day. If he has a 100 yard game, I think we'll win it. If we keep our D off of the field and keep the teams intensity up, we will win. I think our team is in a better position from a mental and emotional standpoint. I think the talk of both the HC and DC leaving is big, substantial or not.

I think foster will have 100+ rushing and be involved in the pass game, at least i hope so.

I like that 212 total yards against kentucky. keep that going. 65 yard catch to start the game wouldn't hurt
