Does anyone else have these friends that continue to badger you about Kiffin? Below is a back and forth email conversation I had with a Cock fan...I think I won!:dance2:
Cock Fan
Another recruiting violation? Are you serious?
Here is one man's take:
Weird story out of Knoxville, where Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin might be looking at...wait for it...an NCAA recruiting violation! I know, crazy right?! Speculation is, Tennessee has reported at least four minor recruiting violations since he took over back on Dec. 1.
My man, exactly how did you pass the NCAA coaches certification test?
You might want to mix in NCAA rule book! Especially, after this latest alleged violation.
"Outside The Lines" aired a piece Sunday which showed Kiffin in his office with two people identified as recruits. "Uh-oh!" As you all know, NCAA recruiting rule 13.10.1 states explicitly: "a member institution shall not permit a media entity to be present during any recruiting contact made by an institution's coaching staff member." "Uh-oh!"
Come on now Lane...I know you're not the only guy breaking rules...allegedly. But at least Urb'...Les...Richt'..."Coach Nutt" and the other fella's have enough sense to stay down when cameras are rolling. And since lying could also be construed as a rule violation, it won't be long before Tennessee is looking at the "death penalty".
Because, the Raiders say Kiffin does it all the time!!! He "is a flat-out liar. He lied to the team, he lied to the fans and he lied to the media. He will try to destroy that university like he tried to destroy the Raiders, and will eventually clash with Summitt and Pearl.
Other than that, the Raiders can say nothing further." Stay classy, "Godfather".
First Al Davis lays Kiffin out in that bizarre presser and now he takes another run at him! And even drags Summitt and Pearl into his blast. And best of all is Davis saying Kiffin will destroy the university. Not the team! Or the program! Or even the athletic department! But the university!
What, he doesn't have enough to game to poison the entire state?! C'mon Al, turn the page! Your vendettas against Pete Rozelle, Marcus Allen, Mike Shanahan, Steve Beuerlein and City of L.A. think you need to get off this guy! As always Lane, "coach 'em up!"

FACTS: Saban had 20 secondary violations his first year, and Ohio State
has the record with 375 over the past ten years. Georgia had 15
secondary violations last year. Also, look at Florida - a 10% arrest rate for its players, with 24 arrests over the last 4 years. Bama is under investigation by ncaa for an offense that they have already been caught for (book scandal). Gene Chizik had to report this same type of infraction the other day. 6 just doesn't sound that bad now does it?
kiffin has gotten under the skin of some sec fans and thats good. he is suppose to be doing that.

See, all y'all do is point fingers. STILL NOT ONE REASON why you are excited about him other than that he is not Fulmer. And if he was supposed to be doing those things, he wouldn't have gotten reprimanded by Mike Slive and he wouldn't be hated by everyone. Intentionally getting your fans to like you by getting everyone else to hate you is retarded. Try winning some games and gaining real support like a normal coach.

STILL NOT ONE REASON why you are excited about him other than that he is not Fulmer.
Countryman here are six reasons...
1. Hired a collection of NFL coaches/top recruiters who are arguably the most exciting staff in college football.
2. Closed out, in little under 2 months, a top 10 recruiting class(can't say the same about ole Stevie). And in doing that he stole the #2 CB from LSU, a top 5 ATH from FL, a top 10 WR from FL, and the number one player in the country.
3. Has restored energy and passion in the UT fanbase and gotten them in the media spotlight. (however he's done it, have you ever seen a 5-7 program get as much PUB as UT?) 4. Exploited NCAA recruiting rules to his advantage to get top recruits (refrencing Bryce Brown by name in radio interview, refrencing recruit by name on Twitter, and getting Lamarcus Joiner on ESPN-national TV is a big deal to a high school kid). Why not commit a SECONDARY violation if it gets you the player and there is no punishment???? Answer- There is no reason that's why EVERY good program does it. You might not know anything about that (USClite) 5. Held the most intense, competitive, and spirited spring practice in the past 10 years at Tennessee.
6. Brought in an unprecidented 200 recruits to our June camps, and is building momentum for another top 10 class next year and hopefully will land Jesse Scroggins a top 3 QB by the end of June.
Go VOLS...Here's to Halloween being a NIGHTMARE for the Cocks in Neyland.

What makes an "exciting" college football staff? That is a retarded statement. A 70 yr old D coordinator and a retarded ex coach from Ole Miss who was fired and loves to take his shirt off and do sweet car commercials.
With the rest of it, you can look at it how you want. If you think its ok for him to commit secondary violations in order to pull a few recruits, fine. But that is pretty short sighted. The idea should be building the program, not getting UT in the news in 2009 and having a "great" recruiting class. He has now set himself and the program up for failure. If he doesn't win immediately after pulling all this crap, he will be gone and will have left the program in shambles.
An FYI, you prob don't realize it bc you are one of them, but the manner in which the UT fanbase has been put in the national spotlight is not exactly flattering to say the least.
You guys are starting to sound like Clemson fans. Just keep your head down, work hard, and let your play do the talking.

Looking at the qualifications of coaches and what there jobs will be for our team is what makes an exciting staff
-We have a D-Coordinator who is regarded as one of the best of all time coming from an NFL team to be our DC. Pretty exciting.
-We have one of the most established and highly regarded recruiters in the HISTORY of college football to be our Recruiting Coordinator and D-Line coach (where he excelled at USC and Miami) Pretty Exciting.
-He took other top NFL coaches and assembled them in the same position at the college level. Pretty exciting.
-He took top recruiters that specialize each in different areas of the country (Thompson- Bama and GA, Wilson- Miss and Louisiana, Gran - South FL, Garza-TX) Pretty Exciting.
-The only coach that isn't that exciting is the one we took from the Cocks....big surprise.
But all of that aside, I can see why Kiffin's tactics are unsettling to a rival fan and I agree that the spin that ESPN has put on all of the situations/violations cast a negative light on Kiffin/UT. But, in making himself look like a bafoon to the general public, it takes all this so called "pressure to win" off the team. NO ONE thinks TN is going to be any good this year, they think Kiff is a moron and that we are increadibly undermatched in the SEC and at best we could go 6-6, most people expect us to fall flat on our face and go 3-9 or something. So Now if we come out and go 7-5, or 8-4 and are competitive in all the losses, Kiff looks like a genius and we build crazy momentum going into the next signing class.(His plan all along)
Now if we do go 4-8 or something yes you are right ALL of this backfires and he is screwed royally, but from watching Kiffin I don't think he is expecting that.
In 2011 and 2012 when you are breaking in your new dumpy coach after Stevie retires, UF is rebuilding after Ubrie runs off to ND, and we are in the SEC championship game then you will see what I see.
Until then, cheers to our next secondary violation!
