Stats tell the story.

In 2006:

6------------34

Total Defense

SEC (rank) National
8------------50

Kick Off Returns

SEC (rank) National
12-----------117

Pass Offense

SEC (rank) National (not too bad)
2------------12

Pass Defense

SEC (rank) National
5------------27

Rush Offense

SEC (rank) National
10------------96

Rush Defense

SEC (rank) National
8------------72

I find it hard to believe that 5th in the conference in pass defense converts to 27th nationally. I'd be happy if we kept it there based on our DB situation. I think pass offense will be a little less because we will be running more often plus the obvious recieving problems. What are the stats on TO ratio? It's pretty vital.

The rushing issues and returns are the vital areas in need of improvement... as everyone has said for quite some time.

I would love to see our coaches put our best athletes -- "playmakers" if you will -- back there for kickoff returns. It'd be nice to see that our coaches have decided that this year we're gonna take our chances back there and try to get some big plays on kick returns.

I still can't figure out the idea of putting Foster back there. He isn't fast and he fumbles. I seriously will scream at the tv if he's back there on returns.

Agreed. I'd understand if they were putting a guy with sure hands back there . . . but Foster isn't that guy. And he's not shown that he's explosive on returns, so I'd rather roll the dice with O'Neal, Berry, Moore, etc. Let's see what the youngsters can do.

Foster was back there some last year. Highly doubtful we'll see Foster on kick returns this year though.
