That’s one of the many reasons Volnation loves, admires, and respects Kirby so much. He didn’t whine, complain, and have a “woe is me” attitude. He did his job to the best of his ability with zero excuses. Heck, there should be a VFL Award given in his honor to deserved players. The SEC is no place for helicopter parents or entitled kids.Low. Looking for a leader I'm sure. I just don't who that will be. The ones who can be don't want to be and the ones trying to be can't back it up on the field. We have had for the past several years in both pitching and hitting. I think there are also many, my opinion no one elses, that just don't believe they can be successful at the plate, in the field, or on the mound. When that happens you are doomed. Had that kid a couple of times who had all the talent but none of the belief in themselves and I don't think a coach can force it. BTW, I've had people say that Josh has ruined some guys psyche but if you are playing SEC baseball you have to be ready when your name/number is called. One parent complained in my presence about the situations their pitcher son was put in and I just laughed. I don't think Kirby hardly ever started a clean inning. He came in with bases loaded no outs on multiple occasions each year with Tony saying "keep him on third."
I will say I"m not a fan of the names on the back of the jerseys at any level. Play for the name on the front not the name on the back.
Please tell me that you wouldn’t be shocked? You can’t shock me with Tennessee athletics anymore. You don’t know how close I am to reporting you to Freak!!

“Just making a regional”?!?! We have to get IN first!!!!Yes I’m confident. This is his first year so he’s probably still a bit nervous and getting settled in. Just making a regional in Year 1 would be huge and no matter how far we go it would still be considered a success.
Well no crap we gotta get in first. That’s why I said just making a regional would be a success. Are you having that kind of day where you just wanna argue and be a contrarian or what?“Just making a regional”?!?! We have to get IN first!!!!
I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because he is a first time manager. But he must improve!
If you get a chance, listen to Tony Basilio‘s interview with Rod Delmonico yesterday to give you some insights on a first time HC after winning!
Let’s hope Elander follows same pattern, but even though his personality is not fiery, he has to be more assertive with his energy with the team and fans, OR it simply will not work!!!
Tennessee, in any aport, requires passion and bravado, to match, feed, exceed the fans. Cool cucumbers, California types, or otherwise BORING personalities are an absolute mismatch and history proves it! Remember Buzz, Holly, wade the fade, Raleigh, Cornbread, etc.?
