There is a new program coming on TV. It's entitled "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?"

I've not seen it yet, but I can imagine what questions may be asked. So, let's get the questions started and see how smart you are.

1. How many states are there currently in the U.S.A.?

2. What was the first state to join the Union?

3. Who was the first President of the United States?

4. What is a pronoun?

5. Who was the President of the United States during the Civil War?

6. What two major countries fought against the United States in World War II?

7. What was the last state to join the Union?

8. Where is the capitol of the United States located?

9. Besides a period and question mark, name 4 other punctuation marks.

10. What country did the United States beat in the Revolutionary War?

11. What are the colors of the flag of the USA?

12. Name two oceans that border the USA?

If those were questions on the show, everyone would tie for first place. Those questions are all incredibly easy for 8 year olds..

Those would be preschool edition.

I actually don't know the answer to #2, and I will have to use my 50/50 on #7, without looking them up.

I bet I know a lot more about ERISA and the UCC than any old 5th grader, though.

I also saw a preview with a woman trying to explain what a prime number was. Needless to say she was nowhere close. I highly doubt they will get the best and brightest for that show.

If memory serves, it is a number that is divisible by only itself and 1.

I always laugh at the fools on Jay Leno's street gig.

Just proves how smart the average person on the street is. Some are even college grads. :birgits_giggle:
Even high school students have problems with math, geography, history and English.

I asked a Vandy girl what time it was. She told me she couldn't read her watch because it wasn't digital. I then asked her what her I.Q. was, and she said 20-20.
