Yet the Mayor of Atlanta just proclaimed how crime was down on the news a couple days ago. This was followed by a po po spokesman calling BS. What do you know? A cop actually told the truth.

I went to 4 of the most dangerous during Xmas vacation and made it out alive! Can't believe Bad Newz didn't make the list

I was there a couple weeks ago and it's amazing to see what they're doing to my granddad's neighborhood in Homewood. Used to be small family houses and now they're tearing them down to build more 'affluent' housing. Looks good but just not the same as I remember

DC has stepped up it's anti-crime (especially gun crime) efforts exponentially over the last several years.

Make no mistake, it's still dangerous in areas, but as a whole it has gotten better.

had 2 teammates in college who were from homewood. one of them just moved back, he's buying a house that's 1700 sq feet, same size as mine, and is paying 100,000 more. mine is brick, his is not, mine is 5 yrs old, his is 50. blows my mind to pay 250k for that

Homewood is pricy - among the highest $/sq ft in Bham.

I stayed in Logan Circle at a B&B with my wife and we walked everywhere even at night.

The owners told me things in the area have dramatically improved in the last 10 years or so.

He said it used to be a really bad area but we really enjoyed it and felt pretty safe.

Yeah, When I had to go to Bham a few years ago we stayed in Bessemer. Hung out in hole in the wall bar each night. The bar had a live rock/country band. It was pretty cool and you didn't meet a stranger there. Good times!

Definitely. They had a lot of trouble when gangs from LA moved over, but over the course of time have ramped up efforts.

Also, there are a lot of outprocessing military that go into local police forces. They were offering up to 75k a year/start plus incentives (free housing, take home squadcar, etc) to people with combat experience.

Also, most neighborhoods give huge discounts to cops off of rent to live there.

oh ya, rich folks there. one of the teammates parents sold their house, and bought some land and are going to build a mansion out on smith lake. ridiculous

granddad's not rich but could make a good amt of money selling since he bought it in 1959 for $3k
