From a GA Bulldog message board:

In his final burn he [Jim Rome] spent about 2 minutes ripping UGA. He essentially said,.... "UGA is no longer the power they were and oh how the mighty have fallen, I mean to celebrate a win over Vandy....come on. I know the program has lowered expectations, and cannot compete with Florida,
LSU, Tennessee, or even South Carolina or Kentucky now, but this is classless. You don't see LSU stomping on MS States field do you..?

Are we to hard on ourselves? Perhaps our stature in the football world has not sunk as much as we think it has.

They're just worse than us. Tennessee has sunk considerably on a national scale.

WE havent sunk, the SEC is just getting a lot better while we are staying the same...

It was funny as hell watching Georgia after the Vandy game, like they won the NC or something.

I think we as fans expect our team to be great no matter what and when we look like crap we are always the first to bash them,so if that's being hard on ourselves, that's just life as a fan.

I was in Georgia deer hunting this weekend and that game was on while I ate in a small diner in Lumpkin. I made the mistake of saying I'd hate to get that excited about beating Vandy while surrounded by UGA fans. They didn't like that too much

but I think in the next couple of years, we'll see UT back to where they were in the late 90's and very early 2000's

Not I. I don't really expect any SEC team to have the success that UT or UF had in the 90's to happen again.

I think what is more likely to happen is UT have a two or 3 year stretch were they dominate the East, then UF and UGA will have a couple of years, then back around to UT and so on.

Cyclical thing if you know what I mean

you may be on to something there...but when this last year's recruiting class matures, UT and UF should both be very strong around the same time. Considering the type of class UGA is putting together this year, they should be very strong a few years later. This is assuming the classes live up to the hype. Should be interesting to watch...

Are we hard on ourselves??? certainly not... We have set ourselves a standard in the past to be an elite program and expecting a team to maintain the status is not being hard...

a friend of mine is a huge UGA fan, and in all honesty hes one of the most realisitic football fans i know. Hes in the 10% of the GA fans that know who their QB was when they won the championship. but he pointed out to me that when UGA did so well, they were doing so well with Jim Donnan's recruits, (pollack, greene, etc) and now we are really starting to see what the richt recruiting really looks like,,,

Richt might begin to feel a bit warm on the backside by the end of the season. They have some hard games ahead of them. Who would have thought that could have happened.

Even Florida's success last season included 5 wins by 7 or less points. Controversy surrounded their 25-19 win over Vanderbilt. They even lost a game by 10 points. Yet they won the national title. Not really one of the stronger national title teams in the last decade.

And Georgia still been to 3 SECCG and won 2 in the past 5 seasons.
