Here’s some pretty damn good college football walk-ons:

  1. Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma.
  2. Santana Moss, WR, Miami. ...
  3. Jordy Nelson, WR, Kansas State. ...
  4. Hunter Renfrow, WR, Clemson. ...
  5. Jim Leonhard, S, Wisconsin. ...
  6. Brandon Burlsworth, G, Arkansas. ...
  7. Clay Matthews III, LB, USC. ...
  8. Adam Archuleta, LB, Arizona State.
The list of walk on players that turned out to be great can go for days.

J.J Watt
Justin Hardy
Antonio Brown
Colt Brennan
T.J Ward

A few Vols of note

J.J McCleskey
Eli Wolf
Nick Reveiz
Trevor Daniels
Max Arnold
Sullivan Bros
Jacob Gilliam- played thro a torn ACL and broke hand. Which is sad to think we didn't have a guy behind him better than a paraplegic.

According to the 30 for 30, Santana Moss had agreed to be on scholarship for track. So, that is kind of a misnomer.

So with that he walked onto the football team. He didn’t get a football scholarship.
This may be six of one or half a dozen of another.
I watched the 30 for 30 again last night. He was brought to Miami to play football but was on a track scholarship and had to legitimately run track. You are correct in that he was technically a walk on. However, it was not in the sense that he was some random kid at a University who decided to “walk on” to the football team. It was all orchestrated.
