we beat LSU and go on to a major bowl and also win that? If we do, I feel like maybe I have been a little hard on Phil. Where do (us) the fan bare responsibility for being winny and wrong? Thoughts?:blink:

No. Phil had not won an SEC championship and had not been to a BCS bowl game in almost 10 years. Couple that with an 5-6 record two years ago, and big losses to Florida and Alabama, horrible records against Meyer and Saban and I feel like fans have had every right to be hard on Fulmer.

hard on Phil???...I don't expect tht we will win every game...but I don't expect, nor will tolerate getting embarrassed when we do lose. And anybody that wasn't embarrassed at the way we lost the Cal,UF, & Bama game isn't a true Vol...JMO

Well I say we wait until we actually beat LSU and beat our other opponent in the bowl we will be playing in before we do that. Just my thoughts on it.

Phil's underachieved in the last 10 years---he needs to get back to big bowl games every year, not every now and then.

How many other teams are going to these "big" bowl games every year? Is a New Year's Bowl game suddenly not a big bowl?

Sure we all want BCS bowls every year, but that just isn't going to happen in the SEC.

I dont think fans have been too hard on phil. Losing is never good no matter what the score but to lose in an embarassing fashion not once but 3 times in a season is unacceptable.

I hope he really does turn this season around. He is basicly one win away from doing just that.

Big Bowl Games=Fiesta, Sugar, Rose, and Orange. The rest are window dressing exhibitions.

Just because a second rate game like the Outhouse Bowl schedules itself on New Year's Day doesn't make it any more relevant.

Noone expects BCS bowls every year. There have been lots of teams that have went to BCS bowl games since UT has been. Do you want me to list them for you?

Who's saying UT should be in a BCS bowl every year? Nobody. I can certainly show you a long list of teams who have played in BCS Bowls in the last 7 years.

Yeah there is no real reason UT shouldnt have gone to a BCS bowl at least a couple of times in the past few years. SEC is a tough division but how many teams in the division have a ligitamate shot at going.

nobody goes to a bcs bowl game every year...but i think its not unreasonable to expect BCS bowl at least once every 4 years.

The funny thing is how often we all want to talk about how great the SEC and specifically the SEC East is, then see the forum turn into a river of flame because a conference or national title every year isn't delivered.

I don't do that, of course. I'm reasonable.:p

Couldn't have said it better myself ... he deserved every bit of the criticism and "hot seat." However, if Fulmer wins the SECCG, even without the bowl win, I will give him a pass for all of next year.

"will not tolerate" in the sense that I no longer support the current coaching staff...win or lose this weekend, we need changes because the embarrassing losses wil continue to mount...

I just want a coaching staff that plays to win each and every game. The goal for every season should be a national title, and look at SEC championships as a stepping stone to that end. If you do anything less your playing not to lose, rather than playing to win and that in my mind is CPF most glaring weakness. The players don't deserve anything less and the fans who contribute millions per season certainly deserve nothing less.
