Over the past few days I've read numerous posts on here stating that they think we're a lock to get Lawson. As an Auburn student, I talk to a lot of fans who are equally interested in Auburn recruiting and they laugh when they hear we think we have a chance with him. Looking at Clemson and Ole Miss sites, they all agree Lawsons basically a lock for Auburn.
So are people intentionally pumping sunshine about this kid and Tennessee's chances (even though most sources agree he's definitely going to Auburn) or are they just deluding themselves to feel better about CBJs first NSD?

He was still committed to AU after visiting Tennessee. AU had the last visit. I think he staicks with Auburn. Garner had to sell him on he didn't fit the scheme at UGA and I think he's done it. 80/20 Auburn IMO.

I think some confidence is allowed. We aren't the only one's expecting him to flip to us. Nothing is set in stone, but the possibility is there my friend!!

This kid is a hard read. He hasn't really made anything secret, and he has said he likes certain schools for certain things, but hasn't named which trait weighs more for him. I think we have as good of a chance as Auburn to land him, and I don't really feel like Clemson is in it based on what I've read from his interviews. It's a Tennessee-Auburn battle. The thing I think that is giving everyone confidence is that he specifically said he wouldn't make an emotional decision. That has to help us with Auburn getting his last visit, and he seems to really like Tennessee, almost somewhat more than he does Auburn currently. This one is going to be one that if I heard either school, I wouldn't be shocked, and would completely understand his reasoning.

One thing that worries me is the guys that Auburn has on campus this weekend. If Auburn can SOMEHOW sell all of these guys on being in the same class because of the sheer potential, I think he might bite for that if the others do. Shoot, I'd have a hard time not committing with the likes of Nkemdiche and Foster on defense alone.

This is one that I've enjoyed following because the player hasn't jerked anyone around. Him and his father have been straight up about how they're handling it and how they've felt and how they are going to go about letting the school. Whoever gets this young man is going to be getting more than an athlete. They're going to be getting a good person with good upraising, similar to what we got with Eric Berry. This is a player that is going to change the face, not only of this team, but of other recruits for next year, and our team for the foreseeable future.

I have always thought so, we have a decent chance but I think AU is the clear leader until told otherwise.

Who thinks UT is a lock for Lawson? I haven't seen anyone say that.

He likely sticks with Auburn but I challenge you to find better quotes about a school, coming off a visit, than the ones from Carl after his recent OV to UT. He normally has little to say (check his Clemson quotes) but after his UT visit he said a lot of positive things. Kid was blown away.

His families relationship with Thigpen, UT's tradition and facilities, and the fact the Lawson's like the new staff are giving UT a real shot landing him. Now, with him having been committed to Auburn since last March and the fact they get his last visit this weekend, makes it really difficult for UT in the end.

Carl isn't a lock anywhere at this point, IMO.

The Auburn fans laughing are as big of a homers as we are. If Lawson sticks with Auburn, those twits will never realize how close it was that he ended up UT(assuming he doesn't). I also don't see why anyone is laughing after their 2 win campaign last year.

As for Clemson and Ole Miss sites, I doubt they care one way or another seeing as though this has been an Auburn/UT battle for the last several weeks. Clemson is a hat at a table and Ole Mismatch is throwing money out at a lot of recruits, so I doubt they are doing nothing more than the rest of us, guessing at this point.

My guess is Auburn just based on having the last visit. I don't put a lot of stock in the commitment in that it was to a staff no longer there. I hope we get Lawson, I'm just getting a feeling that it is not going to happen come LOI time. He'll still be on a false high from his Auburn visit.

The track record of kids signing with schools who get the last visit is 50/50 at best.

What about if the kid is already committed to the school that is getting the last visit? I'm sure that would change the percentages drastically.
