Maybe you missed the memo. We have been in the "dead period" for about 3 years now. :eek:lol:

All kidding aside, as for recruiting, yes we are.

Funny, yeah I didn't miss that dead period at all.

For you recruiting junkies, from the hot news it sounds like he is doing pretty good so far and calming the commits and making a few new in roads. What do yall think?

I think he has done really well all things considered. Locked up sopme important guys i.e Harris, Vereen. etc. Stole one from Auburn. Not only that, but this entire staff has beat the trail like no other has in these parts in years.

I'm with Scotty, he's done a pretty good job.

He's not going to have a great class on name alone, but I think he's done a good job at getting his former Cincy prospects to look this way, and to keep the big names interested.

I think he would land a few big ones. Green and North come to mind. But I think his staff gave the recruits a lot to think about.

I think CBJ is doing great considering what he walked into. I think we need to see 1 big time commitment to get it rolling. LJ yesterday was a good start at a position of need. Seems the staff has talked JJ into staying and that is a huge deal to keep the OL progressing. I think we will end up with a middle of the SEC type class(top 20-25) and will not see the real benefit of CBJ and staff until after NSD 2013. It's very late in this years class to see very many shockers. I think recruits will need to see it on the field to realize UT is on it's way back.

When does the recruiting dead period end?

And when is JUCO "signing day", announcement day?

I thought the dead period was no face to face contact. Are phone calls not allowed either?

What is a dead period?
During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period

So the letters and phones calls should be flying out now. I like the guy so far, lets hope he coaches well and breaks the curse.

I think the dead period is December 17, 2012 thru January 3, 2013.

> Football Signing (Midyear JUCO Transfer):
December 19, 2012 thru January 15, 2013

> Football Signing (Regular Period):
February 6, 2013 thru April 1, 2013

Probably A for effort at this time. Results are pending. With the effort being put forth there is a good chance the results will be good. Most of the news has been on the skill positions, but I hope we can get some good OLs, DLs and LBs in the fold.

Our class is currently 39 on rivals, only ahead of Ky in the SEC. This is the lowest I can remember seeing. Is there any hope for a decent class Top 20 or better?

we are very low on commits right now that is why its so low. Expect to climb into the top 15 if things go according to plan.
