Vandy is a toss up.

Beyond that I am not seeing anything that could be considered being pencilled in as a win.

I thought JG was much improved. Very good arm strength and his accuracy was good.

I like our WRs and RBs.

Defense was horrible.

Nobody wants to hear this but we are in for another rebuild effort that we are going to have to be patient with. I thought the team fought pretty good yesterday and was still fighting in the 4th quarter which I liked. That was an improvement in spirit. However we have to face up to the fact that many of the 4 and 5 stars Botch brought in aren't real good and may never be, they were either total misses by the recruiting system, horrendously developed or both. Also, it's going to get worse before it gets better. I taped the Auburn and Georgia games and have been watching them. Auburn's DL is going to rip us apart, we really need to talk Wanya into not taking the visit there that weekend.

I kept waiting for Pruitt to at least try to bring some pressure on their QB. Saw it couple times, but mostly Grier was way too comfortable. On offense, obviously, pound the rock is a long way from reality. Jordan was a pleasant surprise, but he got little between the tackles.

Where were our linebackers?

It’s basically the same players you can’t magically make them superstars in 9 months. He has to have his type players and depth to compete at that level bottom line

No way to tell after one game. It was unrealistic for some to think they would look good out of the gate. New schemes take time. At least there weren’t any stupid comments from coach Pruitt.

I agree with this. We are better for sure. No way we lose all SEC matchups this year. This is just one game but we got our butts whooped bad. It wasn't like watching Butch against Oregon though. If we lose to FL, then it will be a real tough season. So this game is a wake up call. I have faith that this staff is good. But I def expect better from coaches and players. Much better cause this isn't going to cut it.

TKjr isn't the best but I still believe he's better than Abernathy, actually Gray or anyone could probably do better. I agree I've never seen 1 individual player get beat that often

So we needed an entire offense of superstars in order to score more than 14 points on a defense that was ranked 111th in the nation in 2017?

I’d be willing to bet most the players we have wouldn’t be here if Pruitt had been our coach the last 10 years

For the most part I thought JG looked better..He needs to let plays develop more instead of going to the 1st read..He cant be scared to make a mistake..The running game looked great..This is going to be an elite defense..Its a new system give it time..The WR corps looked real good..

JG and Tim Jordan did look good, but we had the ball on offense for 33 minutes, and only managed to score 14 points against, in terms of our schedule, a middling defense at best.

I think Freak should pin a thread with comments from those bashing already and when we turn things around and they Praise CJP we all can see who has no clue about football or what it takes to rebuild a team that can compete. Unbelievable that after one game those people can see no improvement from last years team. Hint: the scoreboard is not the measuring stick just sayin

Offense actually mixed it up when what they were calling didn’t work. Butchs offense ran the same thing over and over again. Guess what that’s an improvement. DB’s struggled yes but their freshman vs experienced WR’s bet you’ll see that improve game to game as well, why because we have a staff who knows what to teach. Pruitt had spring and summer to basically fix what Jones taught and that don’t happen in a few practices over the summer. It takes a few seasons to beat the ignorance Butch taught out of them.

I must have missed where a 4-8 team last year was supposed to come out and be world beaters the FIRST game of the year.. Damn, if anyone watched that game and didn't already see an improvement over last year you should quit watching football and get your eyes checked.

Who in the hell said we should be a powerhouse? How about score more than 14 against one of the worst defenses in all of football, or this defensive genius not let wide receivers run wide open all day? That team yesterday was no different than if Jones were still here. I’m sure you were defending Dooley and Jones also

I thought there were quite a few areas of improvement from the eye test. Hard to really tell until we see how good or average WVU really is. Grier makes NFL throws though. Absolutely no mistaking that.

The things I saw that I didn't like that really stuck out to me was that the body language seemed very poor from the start. On defense it seemed like there was more than one occasion where we weren't ready for the snap and it seemed like several players were unsure what to do. Although JG made some real nice throws and showed some improvement, I still wanted to see him show a little more elusiveness when the pocket broke down. He seems too athletic to just always be a sitting duck when the play breaks down. But part of that could be I'm spoiled from Dobbs' legs.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Just hope we see improvement through the season and not regression which is what had become the norm under Butch.

One more thing. It's almost noon the day after a loss and my phone hasn't been flooded with texts from rival sec fan friends I have with articles quoting something incredibly stupid our head coach said in the post game presser. This is an underrated upgrade in itself.
