It appears that the 1st shoulder surgery was not a 100% success and another surgery is going to be needed long term

Luckily we have McDowell coming on. 27 tackles so far, and that's not a complete 5 games. Leading tackler now is TKjr with 32, I think with one more complete game McDowell would be leading

Surgery now, then NFL combine.
Surgery now, return to UT next season with med redshirt.
No surgery now, play with pain rest of season.

He is being very careful to investigate the possibilities. In the end there are only two options:

surgery and get ready for NFL draft.

Go week to week and see if he can get cleared to give it a go. So far, that isn't working too well.

IMO, he should do surgery. He wants to be sure when he decides that route.
