Today I was talking with a co-worker who is an Alabama fan. We talk football pretty often and he always wants to tell me about ALL the GREAT recruits Bama is getting. He acts they are all going to be All American.

I told him where I had read that UT had more offers out to recruits now than they did this time last year and that we are within a recruit of being where we was this time last year.

He then tells me that UT has never recruited well and all that Tennessee has ever done in recruiting is see what players other schools are offering and then go after those players and try to get the committed ones from the school they are committed to.

He says some off the wall crap but this one really ranks at the top.

Dang, I love Bammers! I have yet to meet one that wasn't arrogant and thought the college football world revolved around them and that the Bear was still going to win some games.

Bammers are smug and arrogant, but have every right to it. They've been at the top of the food chain for a while now. We are right where they were 5 years ago, kinda mid tier school in the toughest conference. All it took was a great coach and recruiter to pull them out of the muck. They seem to forget they were in the same boat as us.

This is a genuine reason why I am thrilled we have a coach from the saban tree. I'm certain Dooley absorbed many things from saban and he has us on the proper path to dominance. Like him or not, saban is a great coach. Bama really hit it out the park with that hire.

Wonder how your Bama buddy feels about Bear Bryant's quote that he learned everything he knew about football from General Neyland.

Most Bama fans are pretty myopic when it comes to all matters of 'roll damn tide'. If you display a lack of knowledge about anything as insignificant as Bear Bryant's jock strap size, you clearly aren't a TRUE football fan. I wouldn't worry about it.

I would say no. There certainly are bammers that are on this level but that is not exclusive to the tide. My brother's father-in-law is certainly one. We have our fair share of obnoxious fans(on this site especially).

But, I do find it hilarious here in alabama. Six years ago there were plenty of bammer and barn fans but it seems that the numbers have grown exponentially since saban was hired and cam cam won it for auburn.

Coincidentally, whenever I travel in Tennessee(which is quite often), it seems our fan base has shrunk from its size..... say around 2002.

I find it quite funny that most of the people, if not all, who have posted in this thread so far don't actually live in the mediocre state of alabama.

Yes because clearly you have to live there to be well aquainted with their moronic fans.

My hometown is very close to the Alabama line. Trust me, I know Bama fans.

Not saying that all of the opinions from everyone in this thread are not legit. I just find it amuzing that none actually live here.

For the record, I live in Huntsville which is about as good as it gets in this state. Because of the Arsenal we have many transplants from around the country. But there are still plenty of local in-breds.
