We out weighed them by 50 pounds but they owned the line of scrimmage. Where they just simply too quick or where they giving us multiple looks that confused us?

Brett Kendrick - the struggle was too real
I'm not sure I saw a play where he got significant push

They used multiple disguises. My guess is that is definitely what confused the o-line:

I know their defense is pretty legit. They do use multiple fronts and play a 2-gap defense. Instead of plugging gaps, they shoot them so a lot of times it can be hard for an offensive lineman to fire off not knowing which way they're going to slant/shoot. Very, very well coached

Is it Katy bar the door, if the Vols have to play a Dline better that Appalachian State's?

Well, we played a lot of really good DLs last year and managed to do ok. Dobbs is the key. If he doesn't run or the opposing team doesn't suspect he's a threat to run, then I'd say it's Katy bar the door

The answer is that we have a boring offensive plan for each and every game. There is no creativity and it has been this way for 4 years!! Enough is enough!!

They did something simple that we'll continue to see until Dobbs beats it with his arm.

They brought everyone up to stop the run then dropped into zone on pass plays.

They accurately calculated that Dobbs would not anticipate and throw to holes in their zone very effectively nor would he throw over the top effectively enough to keep them from playing up.

The OL didn't play well but on numerous plays ASU simply had UT outnumbered at the point of attack. They had all kinds of bodies flying into run lanes.

They were also very effective with their blitzes and quick.

They took a risk that UT wouldn't burn them deep and won.

Dobbs must stretch opponents vertically and hit open spots in zones well enough to prevent this strategy from working.

If we continue with the same game plan that we have had for the last four years, then it will be a long day!

1st down Run into the line
2cnd down Run into the line
3rd down Overthrow the receiver
4th down Punt

If the opposition is smart and I think they are, then cover the short pass and the run and do not worry about passes over 15 yards because Dobb's has no accuracy.

Last week we were looking ahead to Virginia Tech and almost got beat. This week we are looking back at Appy State and may get beat. Can we just look forward and let the last game die? may be helpful for all of us.

I rewatched the game again and lost count on how many times Coleman Thomas let a defender by him.

As much as I want it to be true and would love for it to be true, I am not convinced that Dobbs is capable of doing the things you describe.

None of the OL's played great but Kendrick played better than Coleman or either of the OG's. Wiesman was flat out terrible. He looked clumsy and didn't hold the blocks he got. Coleman had their undersized DT regularly overpower him.

Unfortunately, I'm not either.... and I am 99% confident that Jones will stick with him regardless.

I think it's tough. I would think the staff wanted to conceal a lot (which is why we didn't see many of our freshman studs get looks) and that was the gameplan. App st came out and hit us in the mouth.

I think the offense will get the green light this week. There were multiple RPO's that were WIDE open when we were in a stacked position out wide that just weren't taken.We usually take those. We usually spread things out with our speed. Not sure if these were just bad reads but there were too many of them that we didn't take. I think it was pretty easy to tell things were WAY dumbed down

One throw. ONE. You don't think ASU was fine with that? That played right into their strategy. If Dobbs was accurate with the deep ball then ASU wouldn't have been able to do what they did in the short zone and at the LOS.
