They play a major team at home in Boone. If they were able to knock off the Canes, would it change your opinion of their program? Or of ours? It is possible that last night may end up counting as a quality win for us. I know I'll be watching, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

A.S. is a quality program, but if they knock of the canes, I will be impressed even more.

Sure hope the Canes don't destroy them. Love to see App win. They are a heck of a program.

No, the only thing that will change my thoughts and it happens first anyway is for us to go to Bristol and manhandle VT. I don't care what App St does the rest of the season, but what the Vols do instead.

That said KUDOS to App St for coming to play and scaring the living hell out of all of us.

Don't get me wrong...I Love My Vols!!!!....But....I gained a ton of respect for AS last night. The way them kids came in here and fought against the 9th best team in the country was admirable esp when Everyone had the counted out!!!...No doubt that our Vols overlooked them a little but I'm glad we fought againt and overcame adversity!!...no shame in that!!!...Butch is right...never apologize for a win!!...I am willing to bet money that we see a different team of Vols show up in Bristol next week!!!!....I can't wait!!!!...But...I agree....Miami better not sleep on A S!!!!....I will def be watching that one!!!!...Go Vols!!!!

From my perspective, it wasn't that Appy looked that impressive, it was we looked that bad. Certainly Appy had something to do with it, but it wasn't like they had a strong armed QB firing it around the field to blazing fast WR's. Our OL returned to 2014 dumpster fire levels and Dobbs didn't shine under duress.

This is sort of like last season with BG. Did it turn out to be a quality win for us? Not really. Regardless of their record, it shouldnt count as a quality win. Just a win.

I gained respect for AS also, however its clear we are not the 9th best team in the country. If that were the case, this football season would be an extremely ugly one all the way around.

It's always said to knock an underdog out early. That muffed punt early when we would have had great field position set the tone imo. Our defense did what it needed to do and then that happened. The whole game is different if we score first and run run run vanilla to take the control.

App shot their wad last night. They showed everything they had. Miami will beat them fairly easily. App State will complete for SunBelt title but beating the big boys takes surprises and there won't be many left after last night.

App is going to win at least 9 games and this will count as a quality win without regard to what they do against Miami. We came out poorly prepared, unready to play and once again were simply out coached.

TN is not 9th best team. Lastnight looked like 99th best team

Vol fans love to live vicariously through other programs. Whatever App St (or any other SunBelt team) does from here on out will not change the opinion of what I witnessed last night.

Last night was a win, and that's about all.

All off-season, posters on here have talked about bulletin board material from other teams' players, media, etc. Well, they just need to watch the replay of last night's game for all the material they need.

To me this would only matter if AS was playing Miami next week, and Tennessee had a cupcake game, just to see how much I should temper my expectations. Since, that is not the case, I'm just going to expect another ugly win and hope that it ends up being better with VT. However, with all of that said, I do foresee AS going on to win the Sunbelt and having another good year.
