I smell what you're stepping in, I'd much rather be in the Sugar Bowl, but I'm always excited for another Vols game whether it's what we expected or wanted it to be or not.

I don't know what their preseason expectations were but 9-3 isn't a bad record. They probably live in the past like a lot of us are forced to do these days. Not much to get all that excited about for either fanbase. That being said i bet a few show up by next week.

No, 9-3 isn't bad but they started out 7-0. Lost a close one to Wisconsin then lost 62-3 to Ohio St. limping in 2-3 in the ir last 5 (including a 40-10 loss against Iowa).

Sounds similar, doesn't it? We lost a close one at aTm then got hammered vs. Bama and limped across the finish line.

Similar seasons. Should be a good game.

Husker fans were very courteous at both the '96 Orange Bowl & 2000 Fiesta Bowl. Then their teams came out & made Orange juice of our Vols. :hi:

But no I'm not exactly thrilled for the music city bowl. You know, a bowl we went to last when we were what 6-6? A bowl for mediocre teams. Sorry I'm not jumping for joy.

I caught the Cornhuskers AM radio station somewhere in Kansas on the way back to Knoxville for Christmas and the talk-show guys didn't seem very confident about their chances. They mostly talked about the players that were gonna be injured/suspended for the game.

Speaking of living in the past, why do so many vol fans think that we use to be something we weren't? Let me explain before getting slammed. 98 was a very special year. The Peyton era was awesome. But, we've been playing football for 112 seasons and of those 112, only 19 have ended up with double digit wins....19!!! I guess what I'm getting at is, 9 wins should technically be considered as being "back". Now, we shouldn't have lost to vandy and sc (and wouldn't have barring injuries), but other than that I don't see these issues with coach jones being realistic. He's gotten us back. And if we stay at 8-10 wins for a while before breaking through with that one special team...I'm a happy fan. I'm a VFL and want to be undefeated every year, but I'm also realistic. Our time will come. As of now, enjoy the fact that we have a chance to win every game we play in. Not so long ago, it wasn't like that at all. Don't forget. GBO!!! Beat Nebraska!!
