Has anyone noticed that the Bama game and the SC game have been swapped next year? SC is the 19th and Bama is the 26th. Thats breaking a huge tradition. Anyone know any reasons for this?

Saw that. Thought the same thing. Seems like we had the game fourth week of Oct a few years ago?

Bama is still the 3rd Saturday in October. Nothing different here. Basically the same as this year. Bama on the 20th and SC on the 27th.

I think we've actually played bama on dates other than the 3rd Saturday a ton in the last 15-20 years.

Nope. SC has been moved to the 3rd and Bama to the 4th

Go back and look at your dates. You said Bama 19th and SC the 26th which Bama would still be the 3rd Saturday. It's the opposite. Need to edit your post. Yes, if Bama is on the 26th then it has been changed to the 4th Saturday.

Try not to be so literal. Next year, when we play Bama, it's going to be the third Saturday in October, just like all those other third Saturdays in October that technically fell on some other date. It's the spirit of the thing that matters. :hi:

What? No it isn't.

Here are the Saturdays next year in October...

October 5 - Georgia
October 12 - (OPEN)
October 19 - South Carolina
October 26 - Alabama

That sure looks like the Alabama game is on the 4th Saturday in October.

Look at the OPs original post. He said the Bama game will be on the 19th next year which would be the 3rd Saturday. He got the dates mixed up. This is what caused the confusion.

ok well I was going off what was put into the first post.

didn't figure I needed to look it up but I guess I did

Oh I know. I wasn't trying to throw anything in your face and correct you. I just linked it because clearly the OP was mistaken and figured it wouldn't hurt just to have it linked here for everyone else to see that we play Alabama next year on the 4th Saturday in October.

Since 1980 this game has been played every year on the 3rd Sat in October except 3 times (87, 96, 08) Just a fun fact for you.

Probably a CDD counting error.... like, say, getting the correct number of players on the field.

Agree to disagree.

Thats fine. We can disagree- I guess I am just not seeing your position that it is the 3rd Saturday in October?

Is it because we have the 12th open so even though it is on the 4th calendar date, it is our 3rd game in October?

If thats the case, yes- I suppose that is true. But it doesn't change the fact the rivalry is called "The 3rd Saturday in October" and not "The 3rd Saturday in October That We Have a Football Game".

And for Alabama, it is their 4th football game. They don't have an open date in October next year.
