Well Joe Tiller was the HC and he is supposedly one of the originators of the spread offense, so perhaps Chaney did perhaps he didn't. I know Kiffin primarily called the plays when he was here over Chaney so perhaps our former HC wasn't that impressed with Chaney.

He had a great offense with Brees and Orton. Purdue hasn't been the same since Chaney left. He did great things with very little talent at the skill positions.
