Anyone excited about a Phillips and Estrella front line next season?

You must be watching a different guy, because Estrella isn’t able to overpower people in the post.

He's 21 of 30 for 70% and they've all been 2 point shots...whatever he does works so who cares if he can "overpower" people or not.

He's 6'11" with the ability to score in the paint without just catching lob dunks. We just need him 100% healthy and to stay that way, he'll be good for us.

From what I’ve seen watching him, he is just not very strong with the ball inside. He’s not stronger than his competitors most of the time. He has to rely more on finesse rather than dominance physically.

He is no longer a raw freshman and will be entering his 3rd year in our strength program. My fear is he bulks up and can’t handle the full switching defense we prefer. Guess they deal with agility too though. My guess is these bigs will be green lighted for broader range and more aggressively attacking the rim.

Well, we will see. He may develop the strength and health to be a real difference maker, and I sure hope he does. The OP asked who was excited about him and Phillips as the front line. I merely indicated my thoughts as to why I'm not overly excited. What I have seen thus far doesn't generate excitement. By the same token, it doesn't indicate total doom and gloom either.

We have a large contingent in our fan base who don’t ever seem to account for the fact that players develop, both in terms of skill set and in physical terms. It’s sort of odd, because we see numerous examples every year across all sports.

Staff will get most out of every player and they will all put on good weight and get stronger. They know what they are doing.
