I need a new pair of sunglasses. My last pair has lasted longer than any pair I ever have had in my life - 3 years. Finally tore them up beyond repair yesterday.

Now, 7 or 8 years ago I would have ran out and bought an authentic pair of Nike, Gargoyle, Ray Ban, etc. Now that I have more sense about me the past several years I have been buying the cheap-o sunglasses you can find in most any store or mall. While searching today I stumbled upon a couple of interesting websites that sell sunglasses wholesale - in a dozen pack at a time.

I found a couple of styles I really like and they are anywhere from $15-$40 per dozen for assorted colors of the same styles. I'm thinking if I get 12 pair of sunglasses its going to take me quite a while to go through them all. I'm going to order them because I'd only be out no more than $40 if they are awful.

Just wondering if anyone else has bought glasses like this? It makes sense to me to pay, say $30, for a dozen pair of assorted colors than it does to pay $20 for a single pair.

I must admit I'm a sunglasses snob - I enjoy top of the line brands that are custom fit to my noggin. If you were able to keep a pair for 3 years, it might be worth to make the same investment and get an awesome pair of shades.

$100- $150 will get you a decent pair - I recommend to try out Revo's, Maui Jim's, and of course, Oakleys.

Lots of cheapos = lots of cheapos

A good deal on a name brand pair is better than, well lots of cheapos.Unless construction matters. The materials involved or the lensing is not important then go that route. One good pair is better than any number of bad ones.

got these Oakley Canteen's for about $70. I've had um for about a year and a half. LOVE THEM.

I'm not gonna be that careful with sunglasses. So I won't spend the money on them (hubby wears Ray Ban, son wears Oakleys). But I like keeping a pair at work, a pair in the car, a pair at the house, in the boat....etc.

I also like them to fit so I just try on dept store brands til I find ones that work for me.

So, where is this website?

I used to be a snob but I broke way too many pair of good sunglasses. Well, and had a couple stolen. The pair I have had for the past 3 years is one of those $20 pair of glasses. With a baby on the way I am now even less particular than I was before. I honestly can't tell a huge difference in some of the cheap sunglasses than the expensive one's I used to buy.

Here's the site I found them on......

Typically the "cheapies" don't give adequate uv protection.

Try Costa Del Mar shades. I have 2 pair. One I've had for 4+ years and the others a year. They have a lifetime warranty and are the best I've ever owned. The 4 yr old pair doesn't have a single scratch on the lens even though I've abused them on the boat and elsewhere time and time again.

If you have $2 eyes, buy $2 sunglasses.

I wear my all-time favorites. I've been wearing this same style for a dozen years. The second I saw them in Men In Black, I bought them. When the ones I have break, I buy another pair.

two great choices

I keep Costa's in my wife's car, and wear a pair of Serengeti's in my car...

My next pair will be Maui Jim's- Pali's

Glad to see I'm not the only sunglass snob on here. I used to stick to two brands; oakley, and ray-ban. I used to swear by ray-bans, and after having numerous pairs stolen, or dropped to the bottom of a lake, I ventured out and bought a pair of Costa Del-Mar's. I got the deep blue, black frame with the blue lenses... They are hands down the best pair of sunglasses I've owned. They have some weight to them so they don't feel like they're constantly about to fall off, but they're not so heavy they hurt the bridge of my nose. They are polarized, but don't have the annoying effects when looking through certain glass, or trying to read my ipod. While they are a bit pricey, they're hands down the best brand of sunglasses I've owned.

I am a Ray-Ban junkie but you are just as apt to see me sporting a pair of $10 specials from Wings in Myrtle Beach.

Those Oakley's of SWIL's are boss.

I do spend on Sunglasses, but I have two pairs of the Ray-Ban Aviator's from '87.
I remember getting them, the pair with the amber shooting lenses, was the first purchase I made with my first credit card..

I liked them so much I went back and got the black frame with the black lenses..

I've had them so long they came back into style a couple of years ago

I have a pair of RayBan aviators (sweat bar, ear hooks) that I bought in 1982. Actually it's a replacement pair that RayBan sent me when the frame separated 7 years after I bought them.

Also have a pair of original Oakley Blades that I bought in 1986.
