Anyone else going to Cooperstown?

Syracuse Mets game tonight (Blade Tidwell on the roster). Either Dinosaur Bbq or Angotti’s for dinner.

Cooperstown Saturday and Sunday (Todd Helton on the roster 😉). Me, the boys, and FIL.

Syracuse has JP Arencibia as the bench coach. On the Red Wings roster is Brady House, a Tennessee signee who never made it to campus.

Dylan Crews in the Red Wings lineup.

Today's edition of the Knoxville News Sentinel has a great column by Tennessee baseball writer Mike Wilson on the front page how Helton got into the Hall of Fame and how he and his dad combined fishing and baseball into a daily activity.

His father Jerry played 2 seasons in the minors with the Minnesota Twins.

Also some comments on Helton from Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin, who was a Clemson assistant at the time that Helton played at Tennessee.

I really like Cooperstown. A few years ago, one of my grandsons played in a tournament there. While there, we visited the Hallmof Fame and stayed almost all day. They already had a display for Todd and it was a forgone conclusion that he would be elected into the Hall. If you are ever up that way, I recommend you spent some time there. We stayed in a B&B close to downtown and the baseball fields. However, we dined at the hotel there and they served the best Prime Rib I have ever eaten. The food was outstanding.

Twins fans outnumber other fans easily. Joe Mauer played for the Elizabethton Twins. Jim Leyland managed in the original Appy League. I’m unaware of any East Tennessee connections for Adrian Beltre.

I will always remember Jim Leyland as the guy that killed the proposed Barry Bonds trade to my Atlanta Braves.

The Hall of famers walking onto the stage has been one of my favorite things.

While today there was still a representation of my childhood, so many were missing.

Brock, Gibby, Musial, Aaron, Mays, McCovey, Seaver, Feller, Santo, Yogi, Frank, Red

Obviously it’s passed, but here’s who (and how much) you could pay for autographs and photos at one location last weekend:

Here’s copies of the pages on Todd Helton in the Hall of Fame program. I couldn’t find it for awhile- my wife put it up🙄
