I like him, but I doubt he would make an immediate impact anyways. There is alot of elite talent we're still in on, and that would open up one more valuable spot for this class. If we keep him ill still be happy, but its just something to take into consideration.

*Mods edit title please, meant to say anybody else think it would be smart to release Tino Thomas?

No - we need to be developing young guys in our secondary. We don't have a ton of depth there.

I know, but we have more depth at DB and we have alot of young talent stepping up at DB as it is. Like I said, I like Tino and think he's a great player, but there's more places of need we could still attend to. And there's a TON of elite talent we're still in on.

We don't have depth at CB.

Teague is consistent.
Lanier just moved in after shuffling back n forth with Coleman. Moore has been a non-factor and our nickle CB is a FS (PreWagg) who moves down and gets replaced by a true Frosh (Randolph)

Or if not Thomas, perhaps tell Blanc to look elsewhere? I just think we have a perfect opportunity to stack up on elite talent this class, and why not take advantage of that? Cause imo, this class will determine on whether we'll be able to make a run for the title or not. We have to make the most of it.

Im not sure we want even a slight reputation of dropping grey shirts unless they can never get qualified. Plus speed is one of the weak spots in the secondary imo

Just who are we missing out on b/c of Cody Blanc or Tino Thomas? Which elite recruit has us at #1 but we are turning them away due to scholly numbers game?

Dooley worked for Saban for 7 yrs. I am sure if some elite talent wanted to come to Tennessee he will figure out a way to keep them. Dooley has a plan in place. You can bet on that.

Im not saying that, im just saying if it comes down to that point as it gets later on in the recruiting game, would it be a good idea to drop a Thomas or Blanc? Im just saying id rather have someone who will make an immediate impact than to have someone who will need to develop. I like every player currently committed to this team and staff, but if it comes down to getting one more elite player than yes id drop one of them. But if it doesnt happen, ill still be happy cause this staff has done an incredible job as it is in recruiting so far this year.

The numbers will work out. We're not turning away any top-tier recruits.

Thanks for the clarification OCI:eek:k:. I assumed we wouldn't do that, but I was just curious as to how the numbers will work out. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.

The kid accepted the grey shirt, stayed in the area for rehab, and still wants to be a vol..

VFL in my book.

This is true. He has earned a scholly imo, and I think he's a great athlete. Just want the numbers to work out to where we wont miss out on any elite talent. Although, I wouldn't ever expect this staff to pass up on a chance to add elite talent anyways. So ill just let the staff work the numbers out.

If we're going to give a kid a committable offer, I'd sure hope we wouldn't be the type of squad that dumps them because a guy rated 'better' wants to join the party late.

Dumping a recruit for no real reason is bad juju. Dooley preaches honesty and character. An act like that would demonstrate neither.

Good to know you are going to let the staff work the numbers out. I'm sure they were worried you might put your foot down and force them to do something they didn't want to do.
