Any Vols In Nawlins Tomorrow?

I'll drink Cristal, or any other good champagne, if it's readil available. However, it's not one of my drinks of choice.

I once drank Cristal out of a girls stiletto and then spit it out because it wasn't Korbel.

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shoppe is a favorite. Tipatina's is tremendous. The shrimp po boy with tobasco mayo at the Acme Oyster House is a piece of paradise. I could probably name 30 restaurants in the French Quarter alone that are top notch.

If you're looking to venture out of the French Quarter, I always enjoyed going to Cooter Brown's when I was down there. It's on S. Carrollton. I haven't been there post-Katrina, and I don't know what it's like on a football Saturday, but it looks like it would be cool. Unfortunately, my other favorite New Orleans establishment was a Katrina casualty...O'Flaherty's :cray:

So why are you asking for recommendations regarding where to go to watch the game? :whistling:

I wasn't really looking for recommendations, per se. Just wanted to see if anyone knew of a place where Vol fans congregate to watch.

You know I'm playing with ya. Haven't been to the Big Easy since the 'cane but wish I could be there for the game. Just lick your finger and see which way the wind is blowing. The game being on PPV might be a challenge but not one I'm sure you can't conquer.

I can't remember names of bars in Nola, but my feeling is there are always a lot of SEC fans there who want to watch SEC games.

It actually might be on at the bar in the Royal Sonesta, which happens to make a decent drink btw. There are a couple of larger TVs there with comfortable seating accommodations. I stayed there for work a few weeks after Katrina and watched Alabama beat UT -- added one layer of depression to a pretty depressing visit.

Hat - if you have time, send a report on Nola? We hear a lot of generalities ("It's still a wreck," "It's great") but I haven't got a sense of what the vibe really is there. Thanks.

Here is a contact for the Alumni group:

"We get together for every UT football game to enjoy each other's company and make sure the Vols hear us all the way from New Orleans. We also try to attend any close UT Basketball games. Please join us at The Fox and Hound for the next game. Or give Archie Corder a call at 455-9864 or email at ccsales@cox.net. We would love to hear from you! You don't even have to be an actual alum of UT - if you live the Volunteer, we like you!"

Glad you enjoyed Nashville while you were here. I have been back to Nawlins since Katrina and you'll find the quarter up and running and in great, great spirits. For hat, eat a Ferdi at Mother's, Po Boy at Acme, drink a Hurricane at Pat O's, and a Hand Grenade at that nutso place that serves them with the gorilla at the top of the stairs. Getting down those stairs is always harder than going up, lol. Have a ball man, GREAT city!!
