I am bummed b/c we never get any winter here in Kville. I used to live in Taos and I miss the Rockies in the winter (well for that matter all year). I am headed off for Utah in two weeks and to NM in 2 months. I always miss the powder on trips. Man I miss living out there and skippin work for powder days.

i snowboard. i live in a land of endless summer, though... when i went home to visit the folks for Christmas, I hoped to take a trip up to Banner Elk for a day to do some boarding... except it was in the 50's every day, so I missed my chance.

I will let u in on a good deal. Salt Lake has some of the finest skiing around and cheap. You can stay in a priceline hotel for 45 bucks a night and ski on local discount tikcets for 35-50 bucks. It is awesome and easy to get to. Land and ski the same day for free (or snowboard).

I wish I could ski, I like to watch it on t.v. I work with a few people that ski, they go up to seven springs here in Pa. I love the snow am happy to go sledding or tubing that is a blast and cheaper.

Never made it to Hood but want to someday. I got spoiled by that light powder in Utah and New Mexico.

I have done Tahoe, Park City, and most recently we have been going to Vail/Beaver Creek. I prefer ski resorts that are no more than a 30-45 minute drive to the airport.

My plan is to learn to snowboard with my daughter (when she is old enough).

You would love Jackson Hole as well. GREAT TOWN and GREAT MOUNTIAN. You might run into CPF as well:p

We only make one trip a year we generally stay six nights, and ski for four days. It takes me about a day to get my ski legs back. That being said, at my age, the Jackson Hole mountain looks a little intimidating.

For the view nothing I have seen on this earth matches Tahoe.

Make it over in early fall, and be sure to hit at least three of the resorts on the mountain, preferably Mt. Hood Meadows on a less-crowded day (nobody likes 45 minute lift lines) and Timberline. But yeah, don't choose the wrong season. The snow can suck on Hood sometimes. Especially after April... Then again, I can't complain about being able to board after April.

The real gem mountain of Oregon is Mt. Bachelor, standing lone in the high desert of central Oregon near Bend. The season isn't long, but it's ungroomed au natural goodness that can compete with the best Colorado and Utah have to offer. Not to mention it's just out of the way enough that it doesn't get ridiculously crowded.

Lexvol, really dont be intimidated by Jackson. I has a lot of terrian for all skill levels and the views are outstanding. The town embraces you once you arrive and the Tetons are beautiful. There are other ski areas in the region as well. There are direct flights on saturdays on delta out of Atlanta and I think Cinci? But, for ease and shear mass amounts of runs you could go to Breck. Not quite the views but some good all around fun to be had.

Milo-after I make it out of grad school in 2009 I am going to maka a pac trip to ski some. I will definatelty check out bachelor if it has good snow and Hood so I can check it off the list. Tahoe is in the future as well for a massive group trip. I couldn;t complain when I was skiing in april/may either. One day I want to fly to Santiago for July skiing in Chile. U IN for the trip to South America-maybe we could catch up with Max Cavalera.

I checked out Bachelor and it looks like a pretty kick ass mountian. The westface looks great and I love all the wide open peak stuff. LOTS of snow this year and if I had time, I would make it up there for sure. I have a buddy that skis a crapload and I will see if he has ever been. I miss the west cause on days like today, I would be out the door and skiing all day. Damn the south and it's 65 degree rainy winters.

Used to ski all the time during my last time in Germany 1995-2001. Loved skiing the Alps. Get back there about once every two years. Now live in FL. Big change.

Going to Whistler for the first time early February. Really looking forward to that trip. 33 days and counting.

Man have a blast at Whislter. I have a pal that just got back and they said it was great. I envy you man. Germany and the Alps-another "promised" land of skiing along with the swiss alps as well. The exchange rate is what makes Canada such a deal, and the Canadian Rockies are magnificent.

I would not mind living in BC. I could have a much easier time going about my three favorite things: Importing cars which you cannot bring into the US, riding Whistler Blackcomb, and drinking.

there is one weekend in February that is worth a darn in Banner Elk, and it's usually around Valentines Day.

everything else is hit or miss.
