might play well? They are long, athletic and YOUNG and play a similar style to FSU. Lots have said we'll struggle with length and big physical bodies inside and I agree and we will struggle at times Sat because of it. Youth is going to be key and the crowd will play a role, I think we learned from the FSU game and win a wild one at home. As for who, I think JJJ is going to become a clutch player in big games for us and will post big numbers all around this game. Free throw shooting will be the difference in this game as there will be a ton of fouls. If Turner and Fulky shoot 80% from the FT line we'll win going away. TBA is going to be rocking, lots on the line in this one.

They remind me more of Washington, if Washington flopped when touched..

What I am hoping for is for typical Hardaway street ball vs. well-coached basketball...five individuals trying to win the game and make a highlight reel by themselves vs. a team of 6-7 guys playing team basketball, especially on defense. As I see it, Memphis has more raw talent than we do right now so we could very well lose this game if we don't play outstanding defense. Agree with you that there will be a lot of fouls in this game. But we are a better FT-shooting team and a better rebounding team than Memphis. The crowd will give us an edge, I am hoping. I will be very surprised if this one is not close at the end.

I’d rather UT win this one more than any other. Can’t stand that classless cheat on the other side. I’m sure it will be tight because Hardaway gets the best that money can buy.

I predict a major 'drive by' meltdown if we lose to Memphis. Game's a toss up and really depends on who on our side shows up to play 40 minutes on both ends of the floor.

Yup...I don’t remember who it was, Ziti or someone else, but they hitched their wagon to a single game, and I honestly don’t even remember if it was CRB as coach or CCM, but we lost it and they had a royal meltdown and wanted to make career statements based on 1 game.

Think it was a guy known as I95 when Zo was here. Remember well the Thread title, 'Bad showing in Memphis. Bye bye Cuonzo.'
Can't have Fulky and Bowden hiding in this one. if we come thru the next 5 with only 2 more losses we'll be doing well and better than many expected. GBO

I think our guys show up every game on both ends, you can knock on em but playing hard is a given with this bunch.

This game doesn't necessarily have a huge impact on our season as a whole. You can lose and recover, but man it would be a huge statement win to pull this one off. I'm sure the fans want this one more than the coaching staff probably does, but this is the game I want most this season for a number of reasons. It would also be sweet for Barnes to get win #700 against Penny. I think we win a close one, but that is contingent on Bowden playing well. He's been awful for 4 straight games, and I don't think this team is good enough to win against the best teams with Bowden disappearing. If he is ice cold yet again, you really don't have a secondary dependable scoring threat on this team.

I think this game depends on how well Turner plays. Memphis is talented enough that our pg play is going to be vital to beating them.

In all the games against very good to excellent teams, it is vital that we have a "qb" that performs at the top of their game. Our talent level is not at the point where we can just "get by", especially with just average post play.

Seems like it was Ziti in response to a Barnes loss to CCM-coached Mizzou in Barnes’ third season at Tennessee, IIRC. Close loss (59-55), and Tennessee reeled off 11 of their next 13 to finish 23-7, an appearance and close loss to UK in the SECT finals, and the program’s first NCAAT appearance in 4 years.
