Any new on Oku and Brown?

seriously despite the hesitation because of Brown's off field situation, i personally feel Oku is the bigger cancer threat.

Oklahoma's fan base has been particularly vocal about this kids me first attitude.

From all we've seen, Brown is a good kid with a big brother and a guy that may or may not be looking out for his best interests.

Switch their rivals rankings and i'd still want Brown based on character.

I don't disagree with your post but will add that I don't think our coaching staff will put up with any crap. You'll either learn to do things the right way or you'll be gone. Several players are getting a crash course in that right now.

How is pursuing Oku and Brown "selling out"? They are two of the best recruits in the country. We would be absolutely stupid if we didn't try to get them.

Looking at the other posts and threads regarding this two players it is like the second coming of Christ.

I am all for recruiting both but I feel really jerked around by Brian Bulter who advises/manages and speaks (in some cases for these players).

If you follow it closely you will see that people are real adamant about these players. There is no doubt that they are talented. I hope they do come but I do know that we have a fairly decent stable of running backs they will not bow their heads and give up easily.

Apparently you don't follow recruiting. 3 days is an eternity. There was also an article 3 days ago saying Marlon Brown was going to Ohio State. You want to argue the validity of that one too??

or the article that said Sam M. to UNC, Jan Jackson to LSU, or Nuke and Teague to FL???:dunno:

Oku is being an idiot and not signing because of Brown. If the kid is afraid of competition I don't want him anyways. We need kids who want to compete to be the best. That's the culture Lane and Co. are installing now and it will pay dividends. Brown has not been confirmed to be visiting yet.

Has Oku said anything lately?

I thought he was supposed to announce on the 6th.

You don't know that with any confidence, Eric. I really think we should be above trashing the guy when we don't have any idea really what is going on. This is an important decision and there is nothing wrong with taking the time to make sure you make the right one. Oku will be a Vol in the end and we will all be better off for it.

I don't disagree really, but what else does he need to see to make his decision?

If he is all Vol, no matter what, he has no reason to wait really.

I have a feeling that there was some serious negative recruiting going on against us and it's taking a lot to defeat that. UT is the logical choice for Oku and he's been committed here for a long time so I think that's where he ends up once he gets his head clear.
So is that a confirmation on him probably visiting, Saban?
Just not concrete.

Nothing seems concrete with this kid, but it's pretty clear he is going to take his last two visits and he's said quite clearly that we are going to be one of them.

That gives us a shot, no visit , no shot.

We get him on campus, we are right in the middle of it.

I'm really high on Oku, and preferred him over Giles. Obviously, Bryce Brown is the #1 prospect in the nation for a reason, but honestly, I'd be ecstatic to get either one of them.

I don't fault Oku for waiting on Brown to make his move. Him not worrying about competition is irrelevant. Brown is the #1 RB in the country, and whichever team he goes to, there will be pressure on the offensive coaches to give him playing time. Oku can come in and outproduce him and win the starting job fair and square, but he'll never considered the top RB with Bryce Brown sharing carries. Oku could come in and play well enough to force another similar caliber recruit like Jarvis Giles to the bench, but against Brown, he's at a disadvantage.

I say come to UT. It has been said and meant that the best players will be on the field. There is room for everyone...
