Ever notice that losses, significant player losses, to off field issues has decreased with Coach Heupel?

In the past we could lose an important starter and sometimes a handful or so of 1st or 2nd string guys in the off season.

Here we are cruising toward to the end of August and, thank God, were looking rather good.

We lost rb Lyn J Dixon, transfer, but he was sorta just passing through. You can't lose something you never really had.

Remember those string of incidents involving that bozo Kaidon Salter? SMH

In short Heupel is limiting the damage of off season losses. Not bad.

Now, were hearing a bad initial story about LB Mohan. Now, It's not for me to pass judgment on this breaking story but..assuming the worst Mohan never figured seriously in our plans.

I agree about Heupel and the way he has handled off the field issues and like that the tone and expectation was set early.

One thing I don't necessarily agree about your statement is Mohan not figuring into the plan.
If for nothing else, he was going to figure into a depth slot at LB...that LB spot needs all the depth we can muster.
Too many times in the 4th quarter last season our LBs were gassed because there was no relief.

The number of incidents are definitely down and the culture established by CJH along with the recruiting model has to have an impact on this. But, there also has to be a lot of luck involved too. 100+ 18-24 year old athletes high on testosterone - some stupid things are going to happen, always have and always will. Glad the frequency is down and hopefully it stays that way.

Dixon learned not to mess with Pax. Had to learn the hard way but I think the message got through. Pax is one mean sumbitch.

I've said a few times that his leadership is what I like best. He still has to coach the X's and O's but his leadership seems to be clear, goal oriented, and inspiring to his players. You have guys volunteering to come in for extra workouts. That's impressive in itself.

So getting guys lined up and marching in step into battle has been pretty great. A few guys have been out of step. A few guys have fallen out. But when it is clear where you are going and how you plan to get there... most people want to be on that trip with you.

The other part is simply that he tends to schedule practice and other mandatory work early in the morning. I believe it was during Fulmer's death throes that players were getting in trouble almost every week and a lot of them after midnight. So having that early schedule forces guys to make a decision- party or be on the team. You might try both for a short time but eventually something has to give.
