Fresh off two secondary violations, Lane Kiffin seems to have done it again. Today (Friday) on Knoxville radio station WNML with host Dave Hooker, the Vols coach made a comment about prospect Bryce Brown. Kiffin was commenting about the momentum in recruiting, when one great recruit picks Tennessee, that opens the door for more and more top prospects to pick UT. Here's the quote that should have the UT compliance office talking with the SEC folks here in Birmingham, Kiffin says, "Great players like Bryce Brown are going to announce"...

This is Recruiting 101, easy stuff, you never mention a recruit. NCAA rules do allow you to say that you are recruiting an athlete, and you can use his name, but the violation comes when you make even a one word comment on his talent...in this case the phrase "Great player like Bryce Brown".

There should be no penalty, and Tennessee will be able to keep recruiting Brown (who was scheduled to visit Knoxville today) However, a large number of secondary violations does become a problem if they continue to stack up.

I don't think he was commenting on the momentum in recruiting, but about how Brown is delaying his announcement and how many other players might start doing that in years to come. He didn't like how that forced them to keep recruiting players this deep into spring.

Agree, that is when he said it. . .he didn't mention anything about our recruiting and Bryce Brown at all.

What's worse is he has even admitted to knowing this rule because he was so adamant about not saying Marlon Brown's name in his first presser

I heard it and immediately gasped when he mentioned Bryce. I couldn't believe he said that.

reality is we may be done with Bryce Brown, hence the mention of his name

That's my problem with it as well. It appears as oppose to the other violations, where it could be said they were intentional and served a purpose. This one just seems like a slip up. A stupid one considering the radio host (Hooker I believe) kind of slipped in a warning.

Kiff has gotta know better! Im sure it was a slip up, but after the past few weeks, he needs to just keep his mouth shut, and let "O" and the other boys finish up the recruiting.

Yeah don't claim something is a violation without a link or source

Link and Source are in the original thread at top of the page. This info is coming straight out of Birmingham. Bama fans have nothing better to do than look for any kind of dirt on UT. Nothing New
