I watched them play last year and I was trying to remember who they reminded me of, sorta Nev Las Vegas with defense, someone else who played that wide open offensive game.  :dunno:  I can't remember but their idea of defense was to catch the ball as it came through the net.  :dunno: Went to Sweet 16 twice then faded.

Loyola Marymount. Actually, UNLV played some of the best full court defense around when Tark was there. Their games were high scoring because of the tempo they played.

LM, yeppers, you're right, a bunch of nothing players made good by a system. And you're also right about NLV "D".

Wait until the better players sees Pearl's system, my bet is that they will love to play for UT. :dance2:

Imagine having UK's talent and depth with Pearl! :D

Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble were pretty good players. I would certainly have to say that the Jeff Fryers and Per Steemers of the world would only have been as productive as they were in that system. Good to see someone else give Tark's D proper respect.

with a great recruiter in jones and pearl we are getting the program on track for contention. and not to mention for UAB coach, Edgar.

sounds like the program is getting off on the right track.

I'm a basketball guy but I haven't been excited abut UT bb since Ernie/Bernie. Either the coach sucked or the team did or we had hoodlums like Harris.

Now I'm excited, we finally have a coach who can do it all, jeez, hope Phil is watching. :fool:

Josh Tabb is an interesting prospect. Some "experts" feel he is a tremendous sleeper. At one time, he was recieving heavy interest from the likes of Illinois,Kansas, Michigan State, etc.

David Telep of Scout.com had this to say about Tapp when he committed to SIU. "There is no doubt that SIU landed itself a big-timer in the form of junior guard, Josh Tabb. Tabb, a HIGH-MAJOR recruit, has excellent speed and does an outstanding job of getting into the paint and finishing. Tabb is a standout on both ends of the floor.

Very well respected analyst, Eric Bossi had this to say about Tabb. "Tabb is a top-shelf wing athlete capable of flying for cloud peircing dunks. He has deep-albeit very streaky- range and is a creative, AND1 type ball handler. Playground abilities are nice, but he needs to show he can play under control and hit his jumper with more consistency. If he can do that, he is a Top 50 player. In other word, keep an eye on him because he might end up being compared to Dewayne Wade some day."

There have been other with nice things to say about him. Bottom line, I think Tabb has a chance to be a real "steal".

This is what I expect from Pearl, the ability to see talent that can be developed as well as the particular talents of each player. Then put them into a system that maxes those talents.

Sure, he's going to need to recruit a few Top 50/100 guys along the way but the chance that every player will be, out of HS, that caliber is none to nil. :nono:

The Pearl is a genious. He is seriously bringin' the bacon in recruiting. We are gonna be a serious player in just a few short years.

It may take less time than that. Basketball programs can turn around very quickly with a few good players and some coaching.

I haven't been this excited about UT basketball since Kevin O'Neil first signed on.
